They where good birds. if I remember correctly they where breed by a family in Florida. most of what people assume are dominique's are actually barred rocks. you did good snaching em up. correction: it is considered to be America's oldest chicken breed.they where nearly extinked but an effort was made to preserve the breed. one of the breeders was in Florida ,not originally breed in Florida. I have a jack Russell that has become part of the flock. he does good at protecting them. ggg
