I’m not sure how many of you knew David Schneider, but I just learned of his passing through a post made by the Alabama Chapter of the NWTF. He was a member here as well and that’s how i got to know him. Below is the post made by the Alabama NWTF Chapter.

The Alabama Chapter of the NWTF recently said goodbye to David Schneider, a dear friend and long-time member of the State Chapter Board, who departed this life on April 28, 2018. David became a member of the NWTF 26 years ago, was a Diamond Life member, and was on his way to becoming a Patron Life member at the time of his passing. David joined the State Chapter Board of Directors in 1994 and served faithfully to support both the wild turkey and his deep passion for turkey hunting. Those who knew David knew that he was a deeply loyal, enthusiastic, and passionate friend. He frequently started his days by texting his friends encouraging messages replete with many emojis to convey his love and support. David loved turkey hunting, and especially loved introducing first-time hunters to the sport. He was a fanatical Alabama Crimson Tide fan. But his first and most abiding loves were his three children, Morgan, Anna Lee, and Slaton, of whom he was always “Daddy Proud”. Perhaps most fitting is the fact that David had been turkey hunting with his beloved son Morgan on the morning that David passed away. The Directors of the Alabama State Chapter of the NWTF extend their deepest and most sincere condolences to David’s family and friends at this difficult time, and we thank them for having shared David with us and the wild turkey for all these years. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, attn: Howard Dahlem, 1801 Townshend Trace SW, Decatur, AL 35603. David’s obituary follows.

I knew David, and didn't know he had passed. I'm very sorry to hear it. He always seemed like a nice guy.

Oh my god. I had no idea. I have texts on my phone from the morning of April 27. He was talking about how he had finally heard some gobbling. God bless his family. I wondered why I wasn't getting replies on my texts. Any idea what happened?

I recall someone posting on the main page about David but they didn't call out his name, only Bama 44 if I recall correctly. I believe he had a heart attack. I was certainly sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good man.

I never had the pleasure to meet him but he sounds like a good guy. RIP

David stepped up when I was running the AL Governor's One-Shot Turkey Hunt events. He was a rising star in NWTF. David seemed to get along with everyone and left his ego at the door. A fun guy to be around and was quick to roll up his sleeves and do what needed to be done. Sad to hear that he is gone.

That was him, but I missed it somehow.

I had text back and forth with him the afternoon before he passed. He was hunting with his son Morgan. My understanding is he had a heart attack that evening-the 28th. Very sad, he was a great man
