When the Dems were pushing Obamacare, many Conservatives cried it would lead to death boards. Of course, the lying liberals denied this. Well, it is happening. This story is very troubling. take the time to read this. This man was never even tested for cancer, he just had a mass. The hospital board condemned this man to death without proper testing. This is happening in Texas and probably in other states too. What do you think? I heard his mother interviewed on Glenn Beck. She said one day a Pancreas specialist came to see him. He said he could save him and planned to operate, and was very positive he would recover fully. His mother said that Doctor never came back. Crazy. In light of what’s happening to baby Alfie Evans in the UK (find out more about Alfie here), many Americans take comfort in knowing that American hospital administrations do not have the authority to overrule the wishes of a patient or the patient’s family when deciding whether or not to continue life support. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. In 2015, a 46-year-old Texan, Christopher David Dunn, was diagnosed with a noncancerous but otherwise unidentified mass on his pancreas. Though Dunn was fully-conscious and clearly expressing his desire to live, the Houston Methodist Hospital’s administrative “death panel” ruled to discontinue life-sustaining care. J. Richard Cheney, the Meeting Chair of the Houston Methodist Bioethics Committee, sent a letter to Dunn and his mother, Evelyn Kelly, which read: “The Committee has decided that life-sustaining treatment is medically inappropriate for Chris and that all treatments other than those needed to keep him comfortable should be discontinued and withheld.” Article

You're as big a moron as your brother. The mother talking in the interview was very compelling. I also have a good friend in Texas that this happened to also. It is happening and we were all warned about it when Obamacare was introduced. you may want a panel of hospital employees( that are not doctors) deciding what care you receive, most of us don't. The hospital told the mans mother he had Pancreatic cancer, yet he was never tested or saw a cancer doctor. Go soak your head.

Earlier today I sent this article to a friend in Georgetown, outside Austin Tx. Here is his reply. He is a business owner and a very smart fellow. Larry I really believe, they may have done that to my dad. He was in really bad shape, but was coherent, still eating some & drinking water. We were all with him, his last day. I stayed late, but around 10 at night my little sister took over and I was going to be back @ 6:00 the next morning. Somewhere after midnight a guy came in and shooed her out to change him and his bedding. About 5 minutes later he came out and told my sister he had passed. I’m sure it happens more than we know!

On a tangent, my biggest disappointment with Trump is his failure to do something with Obamacare. In fact, it looks like he really doesn't want to despite all the campaign rhetoric and promises.

You seem to forget they were doing something and McCain killed that effort. He needs help to do anything. He doesn't write laws, until McConnell or Ryan are replaced I doubt we'll see much done. They did kill the mandate.

They did kill the mandate. But he promised and has seemingly given up. I really don't think he is the type to give up on something he is passionate about.

She did not have to leave and could have told the "guy" to change the sheets or STFU and pound sand. I've been in hospitals when things were done and the only times I departed a room was when it was something private, such as changing a catheter or if the patient wanted privacy. Changing sheets isn't a "you need to leave the room" situation.

Tic it started with Obamacare. Hospitals and insurance companies deciding what care they would pay for and who would recieve it. Evidently you weren't paying attention, because there were many people warning this would happen.

Perch, I traffic in the implications of obamacare every hour of every day.
I read that link and thought that this guy had been the subject of a multidisciplinary tumor board where a surgeon, oncologist, rad onc, radiologist, pathologist, ethicist, among others meet to discuss care of multiple patients. We have no idea of that happened cause the article is an absolute chitshow. No information provided. I will tell you this, most pancreatic tumors are fatal in a short time period.
Every day, tumor boards meet with reasonable, empathetic care takers who decide a patients diagnosis is fatal and further treatment is not prudent or maybe it is. It's not a death panel, it's reasonable people making hard decisions. This has gone on for at least 75 years in this country and happens every day, in most large medical centers.
I would like to ask if the patient sought a second opinion? He was not enslaved to their opinion. Perhaps another medical center, proficient in dealing with pancreatic tumors would have opted for a different course? UAB, Vanderbilt, LSU, Moffitt, Wash U come to mind.
His lack of insurance might have played a role, we do not know. I think arguing that his death was attributable to his lack of insurance is the position of obamacare defenders.

Tic to be fair you didn't hear the interview with his mother. So I can't expect you to understand. She said he never saw an oncologist, but he did have a Pancreatic specialist. He laid out his plan to treat the mn and stated he would make a full recovery. He told the lady the mass was not cancerous. He also told her that he would start his treatments the next day, but he never returned. Instead, a group from the hospital came in and said they were going to give him two life ending shots. That is what they did too. Anyone that doesn't find this troubling is an idiot. His own mother couldn't stop them.

I empathize with a grieving mother, but I listen to Healthcare professionals, especially those from a center like Methodist.
Again, he was not enslaved to their diagnostic interpretation and therapeutic recommendations. Seek care elsewhere if you aren't satisfied.
The concept of a death panel is to seek cost savings in not caring for the terminally I'll, something you claim this patient was not. Is that the accusation? If so, it sounds like an argument from a universal care supporter.

said they were going to give him two life ending shots. I have a hard time believing this without a source I trust more than The Blaze. I have worked as an RN for 22 years. I have on numerous occasions kept terminal patients who were in pain comfortable with IV meds until they passed. I would want someone to do the same for me. But I have never heard of straight up euthanizing a concious patient with a couple of shots. Much less one that still desired curative measures. I call bulldoodoo on that barring confirmation from a more credible source. No hospital would set themselves up for that lawsuit. And frankly, though my heart goes out to her for her loss, a grieving family member that is not satisfied with the care their family member recieved will often embellish the story a bit. It sounds to me like most of his problems stemmed from a lack of insurance. That's a harsh reality but it's the world we live in. ER's may have to treat you no matter what but specialists do not. Not if you have no means to pay.
The best index to a person’s character is (a) how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can’t fight back. - Abigail van Buren
