When I lived down there, I killed a couple of turkeys in the Geneva State Forest.
I realize that's a stroll from Dothan but it's a nice place.

I'm in the Dothan area also. I really want to get back out before the season is over.

I have only been told this info from folks that have hunted it and live in the area but Ft. Rucker has about 50K acres so you might want to try out there. Give yourself some time to cover a lot of ground and you're liable to find a bird down there. From what I understand, in the past there have been a good many birds killed on that place.

I finally have just about everything needed for next season. Only thing left to purchase is vest, chair and decoys.

Buy the vest, skip the chair and decoys for now. If you are new to the sport and your hunting area you need to be covering ground and finding turkeys. That is unless you just like hauling stuff through the woods.
