I know the struggle. If you notice in the pictures every row has potting soil in it. All the dirt turning was done with a box blade and middle buster. Didn't do the greatest with the clay so we put potting soil in each row to make it easier to plant. Now that we have started gardening again it's time to replace the tractor tiller we got rid of a couple years ago.

Now that we have started gardening again it's time to replace the tractor tiller we got rid of a couple years ago. Lotsa clay in those pics! Rake leaves and pine straw in the fall and cover the entire garden, at least 3 or 4 inches, more is better...leave them there over winter and till them in a few weeks before you plant, next year.

Watching the forecast. I got my tractor moved Sat and worked the green fields for the summer plots, and went over the garden spot a few times. Dry as a bone here in this Elmore sand. The plots broke up well though, despite the dryness, and have 8" corn seedlings and smaller watermelon plants ready to transplant next Saturday, hopefully, after some much needed rain. The pink-eye's are still in the bag from the Co-op, and will have to just be a little late, but I suppose that will be okay... there was no need wasting time with them with two weeks of no rain.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Weeds hit me bad this year. I don't remember a year in the past that they were such a problem.
