I know several people lease from Rayioner in here. I just picked a lease up from them. I have a few simple questions.

First are they good about road repairs? I have a few bad areas.
What's the food plot story? I see in one area some are free but in another is 110 for cleared and 160 for uncleared. I have some previous food and logging decks would like to plant.
How much of a stickler are they about the June 1 lease start? If I wanted to start doing now is that a problem? I ask because when I saw the property there was a gate. The previous lessee took it yesterday and I would like to replace it, put up cameras, etc.
Anything else I should be aware of leasing from them?
Last question, there is a power line on the property. Who do I need to reach out to about that at Alabama power? The Rayioner website states I have to get the power company to approve.

Thanks guys.

Rebelman should be able to answer all your questions. He is/was in charge of the Rayonier properties in most of south AL. Not sure if he is still with Rayonier (I know he moved recently) or not, but he still should be able to help with questions even if he's not.

Rebelman left Rayonier for a new job. Rayonier hunting lease program was poorly run before Rebelman got there. Brad improved things significantly but the Rayonier corporate structure limited what he could do. Their hunting lease program still pales in comparison with better managed companies such as RMS, Potlatch and Westervelt.

Rayonier lost a good one... Of course he had some good influences on him early in his career laugh

Where's Rebleman been? Seems like he got lost once he moved.

I’m here. Although, I actually have to work now. smile

Rayonier is a pretty good place to lease from. They have some good land, in good areas. If you can dodge the harvesting activities, then you will enjoy your time on their land.

Mowens, PM sent.

I appreciate the comment but I’ll have to disagree with you one thing. Only Westervelt has a better managed hunting program out of those listed. They are the only ones with wildlife biologists on staff, alter harvesting schedules, and have an excellent geography for prime hunting.

RMS and Potlatch are well run companies and I respect them greatly. But neither have dedicated staff to handle hunting issues. Both use secretary staff to issue leases.

Let's agree to disagree on that point. Before Rayonier hired you, I dealt with Rayonier answering machines and secretaries. Mostly answering machines. All my leases with RMS and Potlatch are handled by a forester who is primary contact. Maybe I just got lucky in regions where I lease. Regardless, any timber company would be fortunate to have you managing their hunting leases. Like I said to the OP, a good forester and/or biologist can make it a pleasant experience.

I have several friends in Carney and they tell me they had a great turkey season this year. How was Southside's?

I talked to Allen about halfway through turkey season, he said it was going really good.
