Six confirmed tornadoes have touched down on the road that I live on and grew up on since 1983. We usually get the same storms that come through Cullman Co. When they go through the triangle of Crane Hill, Good Hope, and Dodge City areas, I start geting nervous.

Found this map. I thought it interesting. I had no idea Jefferson county has the highest amount of tornadoes.

The brighter the white line the stronger the tornado.

Notice anything about the Appalachian Mountain Chain?

I’ve only been under one tornado warning since I moved from Alabama to the Carolinas. Terrain definitely has something to do with it. I watched the 2011 tornado rip through Webster’s Chapel that day. It was crazy seeing a storm of that size just obliterate everything in its path.. was really humbling to know that nature can do that, and you have zero control over any of the outcome.

Back in 1989 I believe it was when south Huntsville got hit in the Airport Road area ..... Deer season was near and I was hunting Carter Wildlife Area on top of Skyline Mtn later on. We found dozens of full sheets of decking with tar paper and some shingles still attachedin the woods up there. Found the Shrimp Scampi banner from the Captain D's that got hit. Found school books from Challenger School and cancelled checks from the Airport Road Chevron. We camped in the primitive camp ground back then and to this day I think of what a tragedy it would have been to have a soaking wet, full sheet of decking with shingles on it come down on an occupied tent.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

That's what I meant to say. grin So the mountains make it impossible to get the correct angle?
I'm not sure exactly what you're saying/trying to say? Tornados do touch down in mountainous terrain (I know of 1 that touched down just west of Colorado springs, co...and the 1989 hsv storm cleared a 1/2 mile wide path on the back side of monte sano mountain on the east side of hsv.), but I do agree/believe that terrain definitely affect the storms.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

There's absolutely a tornado alley, actually several of them, across the state.
I used to track them when I worked in selma, and they may still have my map in the office, but I could just about tell you where they was going before they arrived.

I have noticed this as well. My grandparents lived on Westwood Dr. I was staying with them one night when one just barely missed their house. I think the terrain plays a lot into it. To the northeast of Marion Junction, you have heavily wooded, high ground, while most of Marion Junction is open and flat prairie land. To the southeast, you have high bluffs around Cahawba. Maybe this helps to funnel the air somehow.

Plus there's no homes or barns (that I know of) within several miles. There was a tornado in Marion that day, and we can only guess that's where it came from, roughly 30 miles away.

A tornado went through our land in Marion Junction that day. The power poles still lean over from it on CR25. It probably hit the Auburn university substation. One also touched down on CR 219 just north of hwy 22. These were miniscule compared to the ones that were to the north.

That's right Fur , if they touch down in Cullman, y'all better look out! The south Madison track usually gets close to us around Langston, up Sand Mt. near Section. The Limestone/North Madison Co. track usually ends up just North of the state line around Huntland Tn.
