It's all fun and games until you're in MOPP gear. As with most regulations, there's usually some kind of reason. Like Out back said, let's get them in MOPP 4 and see how it goes. Also, although not as common as other services, the Army does have a FW aviation component. Good luck with an O2 mask, especially in a "smoke and fume elimination" emergency.

I never understood why everyone with facial hair didn’t have to shave, almost all the blacks had bump profiles and I had to do two weeks sensitivity training once while at FT Dix for some training for not keeping my mouth shut about being gigged for two whiskers when the female next to me had a full beard ( this was before the changes by the way).

Foolish people think everyone sees combat. Even during recent wars, not all Veterans saw combat. We have lots of bases in the US and many Countries all over the world. When I heard they were allowing turban's my first thought was how well that works with a POT I'm betting they shucked those turbans when rounds started falling around them. Just more liberal lunacy where it has no place.The military is trained to work as one, not individuals. Thus the standards, the rules for shaving are based on cleanliness and health too. There are some that have to be forced to bath every day. Hell, I'd bet that is a foreign idea to most college students.
