Last month we posted 2 available openings for this 30 year old Sumter County club with 4,000 acres with only 12 total members. There was a harvest error in the posting. Buck harvest for everyone is strictly limited to mature 8 point bucks or better and 3 ½ years of age or older. The posting said buck harvest was limited to 2 bucks per membership. That was partially incorrect. The majority of our land we consider a “sanctuary” and only 2 wall hangers may be shot per membership. HOWEVER, we have 350 acres near the camp house which we call the “free fire zone”. Non qualifying bucks not otherwise meeting “sanctuary” size and age, may be harvested there, especially by family members. In effect, counting the free fire zone, each membership may harvest a total of 3 bucks, not just 2, as long as the third buck comes from that zone. 7 green fields in that zone. The only guests allowed for deer hunting is family members. No restriction on does/hogs, but management will monitor doe harvest to keep it reasonable and moderate. .
