Hurts would serve himself well to look at the history of QB transfers, not only from Bama from anywhere. The success of QB’s once they transfer from their original school is very small. Most are like a fart in the wind, they just fade away. Hurts will never play QB at the next level, he should realize that now and maximize his stock for the NFL. Excellent point. A lot of colleges will want him but he will not have the success anywhere he goes, because if you're at a mediocre or even decent D1 school and not surrounded on the field, every single game, by 21 other 4-5 star athletes, with another 15 or 20 sitting on the bench, you're not going to have defenses worried to death about stopping your 4 deep 5 star running game, and you're not going to have 6 WR's rotating in and out that all have 4.4 or better speed that have the ability to get open against any coverage. When all that is taken away, as a QB, you'd dang well be able to read coverages and defenses, find the right receiver to get the ball to, make decisive decisions and do it quickly, and lastly, be able to thread the ball it into tight windows. Alabama's overall roster talent covered up a ton of his inadequacies as a QB which will become very evident the day that he transfers to a lesser school.

If you can't have better passing stats as Alabama's QB, with 4 and 5 stars at every position, what makes his dad think Jalen would do better somewhere else?
Will he get better coaching somewhere else? Will he have a better supporting cast somewhere else? Will he find a better offensive scheme somewhere else? Will he have a better defense somewhere else?
I think NOT.... bye Felicia

His father also said that he would he the biggest free agent in the history of college football. I agree with him. “Free agency” in college is a graduate transfer who can play immediately. We’ve had 10 years of that maybe? Know anyone bigger? Russell Wilson from NCState to Wisconsin I remember was big. Jake Coker from FSU to Alabama was meaningfu in long run, but not slam dunk. Edit: google gave me a top 10 list already made up.... https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndic...te-transfers-of-the-past-decade.amp.html

Sounds like Dad thinks that positions at Bama are just given away but in reality they are earned. If Jalen doesn't have the skills to earn the QB position then it should be "fair the well" hope you can do better somewhere else after his Dad made such a stupid statement

I bet he ends up with Kiffin That is a smart money bet right there. One thing I think everybody will agree on is that dad isn't doing him any favors. If he feels the need to move on, so be it, but your only hurting the kid by playing it out in the press. Dad needs to shut his mouth and let this be between the kid and Saban.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Yea, all the other transfer QB's have been soooo successful, right? Wrong! Bateman left for Utah, and didn't see the field. Cornwell left for Nevada, started a few games and quit. Barnett went to Arizona state and couldn't start there. He can't see the field, it's that simple and until he does he will not be a good qb. He's not fluid enough in the hips to play safety or RB. Tightend would be a good fit, but he wants to play QB and he wants to be a pocket passer, that's why he came to Alabama, because they promised to develop him into one, but some people just don't develop. QB's are primadonna's. Any that are scared of competition, usually wont be successful no matter where they end up.

I knew Russel Wilson while he was in Seattle but had no clue where he went to school. Hurts dad is acting like his son is a sure-fire pro prospect. This just isn’t the case. If he could ever get a decent throwing game he would be dynamite but that just isn’t the case. I see Tua being named the started and Hurts ultimately leaving. He graduates in December so he will be able to transfer and not have to sit out a year. Saban undoubtably is thinking the same thing because he tried hard to get a transfer QB.

But you have to put it in perspective, first half of NC game, second half of NC game.....is Hurts the best QB of the 2? We wont know who Nick decides until the first series of Louisville game.

I know i'm just a washed up, lackey rec league coach BUT, in my eyes...Tua's upside is so much greater than Jalen's. Yes, Jalen is 26-2 (that 26th win was won by tua btw) as a starter. But i'd be 20-8 as the starter with the cast that he's had around him. Yes his passing stats look good...cause he had 1000 yards and half a dozen td passes his frosh year on those jet/sweep pop passes. No, he hasn't thrown any picks...cause he won't try to complete a pass unless the receiver is 10yds from anyone else. How many careless fumbles has he lost? Nobody brings them up...several have been costly. How many times has he thrown the ball out of bounds while running backwards (with open receivers waiting on the ball), nobody mentions those? Yes, tua will make more mistakes...he'll probably throw multiple interceptions...BUT, he'll probably double the passing td numbers of Jalen and open the ground game up for the stable of backs he has behind him. That's my thinking on the 2. As a Tide fan, i'd much rather see Jalen leave as Tua. So again...if Jalen gotta be qb1 and he don't get the start and leaves...bye Felicia. Don't let the door hit ya.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.
