New rule just adopted allows kickoff return man to fair catch it and it puts the ball on the 25. Tom Hsrman says it’s just the beginning and kickoffs are on their way out.

Great way to remove one of the most exciting parts of the game. It's bad enough that they call at least one phantom helmet-to-helmet every game.

That's what they want. More players get hurt on kickoffs than other plays, so they want to make it smarter to not run it, and eliminate kickoffs.

If guys run it out 3 yards deep (which they usually do), why would they fair catch it from anywhere further out? I doubt they would.

They could have just moved the kickoff spot forward to where it was not that very long ago. That would allow any kicker in the country to get a touchback every time if they wanted it. It would also allow the kicking team to still use the different kicking strategies if they wanted to.

It was a dumb rule change. IMO...but I'll still watch every damn second of college football that I can.

They're trying to eliminate teams like Bama who have had a good enough kicker to boot it really high and make it come down at the 2 yard line. This strategy allows the kick team to get way down the field with a lot of momentum before the returner ever gets moving. Complete BS that they're eliminated special team strategy.

Just a few more steps until it's One Hand Tag, because you might push someone down if it were Two Hand Tag.

What's next? Are they going to add tampons as required protective equipment?
