It's fun for the most part I was never serious just wanted to see how I could run a single action.
Only hits count.

I use to shoot cowboy matches pretty regularly. That was 20 + years ago. I shot one match a year or so ago, in Brierfield and had plans to get back into it. I sold my rifle though and would have to buy another one so I just haven't got around to it.

With the all the rain yesterday I spent way too much time watching old westerns. Put in a bid on a Uberti Cattleman with a birds head.

It’s a Uberti 1873 Cattleman with the birds head grip. Replaced the wood with elk antler.

Well, blued it is............................... Ruger Vaquero .357 with a 5.5" barrel.................should be here in a week or so. I know the 357/38 isn't a classic cowboy action caliber, but it's cheaper to feed than a 44-40 or 45 colt and it's my first single action. I started out shooting cowboy matches with a .357 Blackhawk and a Marlin 1894 Chambered in .357. I shot .38 special out of both. Since the BH had adjustable sights, I had to shoot in the "modern" class. Everyone started shooting Vaqueros and Colt SAAs with fixed sights and I ended up being the only one shooting a modern gun and it wasn't fun winning my class every month since I was the only one in it.

My pair of stainless .357 Vaqueros free photo hostingThose are sweet! How about posting the photo of the birds head with the elk grips again. I went to show it to my wife yesterday, yes, I'm already working on a second one, and the photo isn't loading.

Shoulda stepped down prob woulda beat everybody's ass anyway and felt better bout it At the time I couldn't afford a new revolver. So I talked them into letting me shoot the traditional class with my Colt Navy replica black powder revolver....I won . A few of them complained about it and the next month told me I'd have to shoot the BP class. Again, I woulda been the only one shooting, so I bought a Uberti in .357. Back then the matches were set up so you only needed 1 revolver. When they went to two, I quit shooting because I was recently divorced and broke.
