I haven't worn a watch in about 15 years. I'm thinking about upgrading my AT&T phone and they have a deal for a Samsung Gear S3 for 99 bucks with the upgrade. I used to feel weird if I left the house without a watch, not sure if I could get used to wearing one now (regular or smart). I went to look at the phone today and I saw the watch and it looked pretty dang nice. I've made fun of smart watches for a while, but It is kind of intriguing to me. I also think that if I got it, it would be neat for a week or two and end up in a kitchen drawer.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I've never worn I watch enough to want one and I just don't see the point in a smart watch though my wife has one. I have a smart phone to call and text and look at aldeer when I get bored but theres no way I can do everything the phone will do so I don't need something else I wont use to its potential
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Mine is smart. It knows if it doesn't keep time, it'll be in a drawer when I replace it! Some of this smart tech is just too much.

MrsGomer has one but rarely wears it. I wear a $23 knockoff of a Suunto Core.

I’ve got a couple expensive chronographs I wear when I dress up. (Church, wedding, etc). I wear an Apple Watch the rest of the time. I like mine because when I’m jogging I can check my pace, if I’m using google maps the directions pop up on my watch, etc. I don’t text on mine but when I’m in plants, with customers, etc I can quickly check text as they come in while leaving my phone in my pocket.

I don't have one, but I understand the desire to wear one. For some people whose job involves talking to people all the time, but are also constantly receiving messages or other things for work, the watch is a nice way to look at the messages quickly to see how urgent they are without seeming rude that you are checking your phone over and over and over. I know, I know, don't be so dependent on technology. But it's a cultural thing and I think it holds weight. I meet with people everyday that use them. It's just add aggravating watching them check their watch as it is their phone.

I wear an analog watch. Hate being tethered to a phone as it is.

I pretty much have to have a cell phone, but that is about as far as I'm going. Call me a grumpy old man, but I'm about tired of technology in the form of computer gadgets. I know without them we wouldn't be where we are as a civilization, but still there's just nothing romantic about computers.
I have a Kindle but I can't tell you the last time I have read a book on it. I prefer books better. I have a laptop and a Samsung tablet, but I prefer to take daily notes, meeting notes, things to do, etc... in my leather bound journal using a mechanical pencil. Many times I am called out to troubleshoot problems at power plants and a good bit of the time I will actually still make a hand sketch on engineering graph paper to show the field guys how to fix the problem.
I like manual transmission cars with as few bells and whistles on them as possible. you can keep the back-up camera, the lane departure warning, the automatic braking, the heads up display, etc...
I still wear a watch. Always have. But I refer all mechanical watches with automatic movements. To me there's just something nice about having a little analog machine on your wrist that keeps time with all the complexity of gears, jewels and bearings. Mechanical clocks are just plain cool as hell.
I could easily have a Rolex or an Omega if I wanted, but those seem like poor investments of my money and I can't justify spending used car money on a watch. So all my watches in my collection are sub $500 automatics.

I bought my wife one, she likes it and it is very useful for her at work to be able to communicate with the kiddos. Me personally I don’t like watches.

Don't have one. Never getting one. Some days I wish cell phones were not invented.
I like technology, some of it. But there are days where I don't like being so tied to it. I'm "modern" old school I guess.
I keep our work schedule on a big paper calendar. Hate using computer scheduling because my schedule is so fluid at times, I like to erase and draw lines to keep straight and see visually. I don't have a photographic memory, but I can often "see" my work calendar and know if I have openings. I only use black Dixon Ticonderoga # 2 pencils in the office. I use Engineering graph paper and quality mechanical pencils with 0.9mm lead for all my field work. I'd rather read an actual book or magazine that read it online. I'd rather hold documents and construction drawings than look at them on my screen. Aldeer and YouTube are my enjoyable exceptions.
