Im on the verge of getting rid of satellite tv. Ive had about all of dish i can handle. Can anyone recommend a good antenna. I am about 40miles from birmingham about 50miles from huntsville, i live pretty high on the south side of a mountain. Not overly concerned with price. I do want something that works well.

I'd get this

But Amazon has some that look interesting that are really cheap. Just don't be fooled by the "has to be an HDTV or digital antenna" crap. Are you going to mount it outside are in the attic". Is there any reason you need Huntsville and Bham? Really only difference is the news. Is your TV digital capable? All things to consider.

Sig Sauer, to hell and back reliable.

Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

The link below is what I have at home and at deer camp. Real good and cheap.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We use this one from Walmart:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Antennas...lete-Long-Range-UHF-VHF-Antenna/34845738

It’s mounted outside up on the fence and ran the cable back into the main splitter the cable/satellite used. It works perfect in the living room (HD and getting about 35-40 channels, 12-15 worthwhile ones). In the other rooms the signal seems to fade and we get less channels but I’ve heard there’s a signal booster I can get. I just don’t care enough to...

The main thing with any of them is placement/position.

Also, we have the cheapest roku they make for streaming Netflix, Amazon prime TV and ABOVE ALL the WatchESPN App. Before we got that ESPN app I wasn’t as satisfied with our setup because they kept putting a lot of the bama games on ESPN instead of CBS. I’d end up glued to a radio listening to ol’ Eli Gold (which is the best when you’re dove hunting)... BTW, the ESPN app requires a TV provider login/account to use it but we just have a friend’s info to use there. Doesn’t cost her a dime for us to use her info on our app.

I cut the cord about 3 years ago (cable that is) if you can keep the internet for streaming make sure its high speed and you wont regret your decision.
i kept the 100 meg internet $60 a month and got a cheap antenna for the locals.
stream netflix, youtube, and espn thats about all you will need.
find a friend that will let you create a username and password for cable apps espn, nbc, cbs, fox sports and you can do anything you can with regular cable at $60 a month.

We live near Pell City and tried the antenna with horrible results. We were too far from Bham or Anniston to get some of the local channels. Instead we went with Direct tv now. It is a streaming internet service for $35 a month. Works great for us and let’s us use the Roku apps for other provider required apps.
