Anyone ever used .22LR or .22mag to kill pigs and how effective is this method?

I have killed a couple with a .22 but you need to be fairly close and hit the right spot. The only time I've ever even considered hunting them with a .22 was during squirrel season on wma and that was about the only choice of firepower.

I've killed a bunch with a .22 lr shooting standard velocity match ammo. Even shot one about 60 lbs behind the shoulder bullet penetrated the off side and it dropped

I have killed a couple at bankhead with my 22. I have to use the same ammo everytime so my scope wont need adjusting. I shootem in the ear. Its frustrating cause a lot of my shots are 100 yards away and my groups are not consistent that far out. Especially standing up not resting my gun on a fixed position. I pretty much quit and only hunt them with a 30-30 or 30-06 during deer hunts for that reason. For me, its really hard to get a shot at one at a 100 yards and hit them in the ear hole. And thats if im lucky enough to catch one standing still. It sounds fun but when you actually put the time in and find them, then they are moving and far away and all you can use is a little 22 and aiming at an ear hole. It sucks. Makes you really appreciate a high powered rifle when your allowed to use one. The wardens put a good hurting on them the last few years. They are there but nothing like they were about 5 years ago.

I've never shot a hog over 30 yards with a .22, and I've killed a bunch of them.

Never shot a hog with a 22 and I never carried one when I thought I had a chance of killing one.

Some places you don't have that option

I've shot a pile of them with a 22.

You have to hit the brain. In the eyeball, in the earhole, up the nostril or draw an x from ear to eye and vise versa. Depending on what angle you have.

You could probably kill them with a vital organ shot but they'd run off so far you'd have a hard time finding them.

I've killed hogs with bird shot before believe it or not.

Just gotta get close and shoot them a bunch of times.

I typically just get as close as I can and empty all three shots around the hog's head as fast as I can.

I Shot one 2 times at 40 yds with a 12ga 3.5" turkey load and never drew blood. Both times i nailed it, it bucked and ran off. I was so sure i was gonna drop him but that sucker just got a sore arse.

A 22 mag is a hog killing machine.

I've killed quite a few with a 22 mag but I will admit that a bunch of them were in traps but I did kill a big sow with it while stalking one day.

I tote a Henry 22 mag.
I pick my shots on big hogs......eyeball or earhole.
But, small to average hogs are no match for it. Body shots will drop shoats and pigs pretty quick!
