I was just wondering if you guys ever use the .17 hmr on hogs. I purchased a Savage years ago and it's been collecting dust and needs work.

I keep a .17hmr in my truck all the time. I was riding at the farm one day checking cameras and had about 100lb sow run out and stop about 40-50yds quartering away and I didn't have a head shot so I figured I'll try a shoulder shot. I am pretty sure that felt like a mosquito bite to her. She arched up made a loud noise and hauled arse. No blood or anything in my brief look for her and she returned within 48hrs to my camera. I wouldn't recommend one for hogs. I have however turned a yote for a back flip at about 125yds with mine.

If you shoot them in the head it'll kill the hell out of them. I saw pigman do it.

I could probably kill an elephant with a 30-30, but that dont make it no elephant gun.

I would love to pop a coyote with it. Last range trip everything was grouping about the size of a dime at 75 meters.

Ive killed them with a 17 WSM. When you put that bad little bullet in their ear hole they might wiggle a little after they drop but either way they are DOTS

Well you certainly don't ruin any meat head shooting them. The in the ear shot severs the spine just behind the skull. Works every time

My brother killed a farm hog years ago with a wet corn cob. He threw it just right and hit it behind the ear and they they had to dress the hog.

I love to shoot ‘em in the face. Put a few 22 hornets in some ear holes and it works real well
