So an Alabama state senator has proposed the same law that Florida just passed...

http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2018/03/alabama_would_move_to_daylight.html#incart_most-read_

It was interesting to read that any state can revert back to Standard Time all year round and opt out of DST, but if a state wants to go to DST all year round it has to have federal approval from congress.

I'm against it. I like it the way it is now. Can deer hunt PM, and be home for dinner at 6ish.

But everyone else seems to hate the system. It could get complicated real quick if every state is on a different system +/- DST and be in different time zones.

Yep. But DST is nice in the summer due to late sunset and more time outside.

I just want us to pick one and stick with it. PERSONALLY, I prefer the time currently on the clocks.

Supposedly a bill going thru congress that would just do away with it altogether, modeled after FL's new law.

The problem with that is that the summer hours are the good hours, and that's the "daylight savings time", meaning it didn't used to be that way. If we did away with DST, I'd be mad about that. These longer sunny afternoons are nice.

Florida's law makes DST permanent.

I read that. That would be pretty cool. Especially there.

Yeah, and that's what the bill is that's at the Fed level too. Rubio is a co-sign on it. I guess if you want to adopt permanent standard time, you can do that - like Arizona, Hawaii, Indiana, etc. But if you want to adopt permanent DST - like Florida - the Fed's have to approve it. So hence the filing of the bill just to make that the permanent time, think it's getting some headway on it. I personally like it.

That' would be Rusty Glover from down here in Semmes. Hopefully he will be our next Lt. Governor.

I would be happy if this is the only bill that is passed by the IDOTS in this year's legislative session.

I don't like daylight savings time. It's useless to me and I never liked it not getting dark till late. I know all the reasons, baseball games after school, yard work in the afternoon after work, women folk shop more because it doesn't feel late or need to hurry home before it gets dark. But then I don't have baseball games or yard work or a wife with a spending problem.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.
