How do you hunt a PBT when he goes nocturnal? Was curious to see what type of strategies you and your members have developed for this scenario. Maybe yall have tried something that works for yall? Please do tell to help us all. Thanks

It's mostly 2 year olds that make that mistake. As they get older they are just like we are and realize if you go looking for a mate in the dark (or dimly lit bar) , you usually wake up to an old buzzard instead of the hen you were after.

Good question Ozarktroutbum.

Whildbill,
I need your help. I have a PBT that’s been roosting in a hollow den tree. You have to be very close to hear him gobbling inside the tree. You never know when he is gonna fly out of the hole at the top of the tree. No warning at all, just a black blur when he comes out like a rocket and he peeks out of the hole and won’t fly out if you are in range to shoot him. What should I do? The landowner won’t let me cut the tree down and I’ve sat there til dark waiting on him to go to roost but he just roosted in another den tree a quarter mile away!

Bill, I will have to say I'm a little disappointed in your response. I would have thought there would be more or less a code of ethics to be adhered to.

Buddy and I were eating at "chef troys " last year in camo..... waitress told us about four gobblers she had been seeing cross down the road by the bridge every night around 10pm.

By the way, BILL, I have been having trouble getting the turkeys around my house to gobble. U can tell they haven't been pressured much caus they aint real skeered of human interactions. You can get relatively close. Only thing is they dont like to gobble. Do you think this is a different sub-species of the eastern turkey? Here's a pic I snapped last week.

Seems like that would work. Also start him cooking and a prescribed burn on wet leaves.
