Shotgun without A Doubt loaded with 00 Buckshot Bingo, but I use No.1 buck. To each his own but I read a lot of Peter Capstick books and he used No.1 over 00, and was trailing wounded leopard and lion etc.

My home defense shotgun is loaded with #6 shot.
Anywhere inside the house, it'll cut a wide path through the human body.
In theory it shouldn't got thru a wall and remain lethal to any family members that happen to be hiding on the other side.

I don't like guns they are dangerous so I sold my home protection weapons years ago. one dosen't NEED guns. I assisted Bham PD on a drug raid once where the dealer had a four foot alligator chained to the front door/porch.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Or was it an easily dispatched impediment much like a chained dog?
