WOW! I am impressed! Your colorful buckets bring a smile to my face!! I have lettuce and cabbage out already and my order from Dixon Dale Onions was delivered today. I am ready to do this thing but not quite time yet where we live. I am working on raised beds and about to start getting my small inground plot finished up and ready. Also, I have cucumber, watermelon, Chinese cabbage, more lettuce and sweet peppers started from seed in the house. All are looking good too.

Good luck with your crop...

Why is it you think your tomatoes give you fits? Do you have enough holes in the bottom so they don't keep wet feet? Just wondering.

I don't put holes in the bottom. I couldn't keep enough water on them during the summer when I did that. I have one 1/2" hole in the side 3" from the bottom, I fill the bottom 3" of the bucket with rocks. I plant on top of the rocks and the roots grow down into the rocks. When I water, once it comes out the hole I stop watering. I let the plants tell me when to water (they do lie sometimes though). Problem I have is I don't get many tomatoes. Get a pile of them growing but don`t seem to "harvest" many. Last year somebody on here told me to put Epsom salt on them and it did help for sure. This year I put Epsom salt in the hole when I planted and mixed some in the dirt as well. And then there are the damn worms! I`m going to have to be more vigilant spraying and watching for them. I always have peppers and cucumbers coming out my ears, just trying to figure out the maters.

Well, you go sugah! Maybe a hole or two in the bottom with a small drill bit? They do not like wet feet but need plenty of water. Epsom salt? Hell yes!! Every year! Feed them well hon and wishing you much luck! You should use a fertilizer that is slightly lower in nitrogen and higher in phosphorus, such as a 5-10-5 or a 5-10-10 mixed fertilizer. If you are slightly lacking in nitrogen, use a balanced fertilizer like 8-8-8 or 10-10-10.

Cauliflower, Texas Regent Onions, broccoli and garlic. This is my oldest and lowest raised bed and it is slowly disintergrating board by board. At the end of this season, I am going to knock the bed off and keep it as a garden plot.

Texas 1015Y, Texas Early White, and Red Creole onions

Cabbage.

Ready for plants.

Garlic in the foreground, couple of cabbage plants and butter crunch lettuce.

I have more to plant in the raised beds but will wait a bit to do so. We may have another frost Wednesday or Thursday. My big old octagon bed is ready for planting too. Big thing I need to do is get my inground plot ready now.

grow lights, a greenhouse, and being retired don't hurt...

Got all my sets planted. Cooking in the kitchen window. Maters are up. Peppers are slow.

Brought them inside so they didn't drown in all the rain. What a difference a month makes.
