Im not sure, went on the youth hunt this morning with a friend and his son. Hes a little guy, had birds all around us just couldn't get one to commit. Got to hear a good show though.

Went to check out 1100 acres a guy had in clay county. Place was loaded out with birds......and corn...lots of corn. It was a friend of a friend and they didnt have any members that turkey hunted and were willing to sell me a turkey only membership. He said he didnt know it was illegal and thought the out of sight rule applied to turkeys. Soooo he screwed me this year, but i told him to keep them empty after deer season next year and we would talk then. Saw one blowed up in a fresh cutover and it got me pumped up. Ready for next week tho.

I am ready they are cutting timber on some of my best ground but hopefully I should be able to get a couple. Team name suggestions would be Breaking rednecks, Hobble to the Gobble and I may have more suggestions later I would be good with anything. Where are yall hunting I am in Wilcox County.

ill hunt in clay, chilton,sumpter,greene, maybe barbour,maybe covington and conecuh. Im also gonna try to hustle on over to south texas and put the kibosh on some rios. Shoud get a few this year.

Good job tailwalk, ive got the entire week of the 26th through the 30th off so im hopin i can get a couple. Me and my brother are hunting the west alabama turkey invitational on the 24th, so im pretty excited about that. Ive got 800 acres down in maples ville for that weekend that hasnt been turkey hunted since probly 2005. My brother was the last person to hunt it, they are thick down there. Im really excited about that place. Ive been envited to hunt a few really nice pieces of property also.

No luck today. Was covered up this morning but no dice.

Working till Saturday. I'll be going all next week. Hopefully can make it happen. Looking forward to it. Forecast doesn't look too promising though with all the rain. But it won't stop me.

I knocked one down this past saturday but i shot through some brush an he didnt catch the whole load. I never could catch up to him..sorry fellers. Off all next week tho and im hunting in the west alabama turkey invitaional saturday with my brother so we gonna try to get a couple. Gonna be onem hard all next week so maybe we can get it done

Heard 2 this morning. Mile away. Between the two of them I heard 5 gobbles. Someone else hunting in there too. Sucks when you don’t have the place to yourself. Nice morning though it was cold.

Yes it does. I heard three shot last time I hunted. One very close and the other two was on the same property.

Went with a friend and his wife this morning. Birds gobbled good, called one in to 30yds for her and she missed.

Got one Sunday evening. Got close yesterday in this crazy wind. I was slipping around and almost crawled one. He didn’t see me but left before I could get to him. He was still strutting.

Today has been rough, haven’t heard a thing. Phone service isn’t great down here

Folded a couple two year olds in Georgia. Didn’t mean to kill both, one just got caught in the cross fire.

Congrats n2deet and tailwalk. I been on birds here but the jakes are givin me fits. I called up 3 this mornin and hadem all at 25 yards. Mean fightin suckers. Makes me wonder if they aint beatin up the old men

Killed one this morning. Submitted it into the kill thread. It was an epic hunt. He gobbled about 40 times this morning. Stayed with him since daybreak till about noon. Closed the deal on him. That was number 2.

You got that right. Only so many mornings fall in the season I can go. So far got to hunt every day off, except for one.

Congrats n2deer, my biggest problem is livin in an area completely void of turkeys and anywhere to hunt them anywhere less than 2hrs away. Gonna try to head to sumpter this weekend.

I understand that also. I live in Morgan county. One of the only areas in the state with no season. Camp is only about a hour and 15 minute drive so not to bad. And I have a nice place to stay, kids are older, and wife had been working a lot.

Told her no sense in me sitting home alone all the time, way as well be in the woods. Lol

Yep marshall is the same way morgan is, we have a few spots with huntable populations but they are all bordering madison and jackson co so they dont really count. Our problem is we are to populated, and the habitat isnt great.......tho thats not the real reason. Ive hunted in every corner of this state and ive hunted in places with way worse habitat than marshall that was covered with birds.....its chickens...we had birds..lots of them im places all over marshall in the 70's an 80's.....then they dissappeared not long after people started heavily spreading litter. My daddy killed probly 25 or 30 turkeys im marshall in the 80's.....by the mid to late 90's they're wudnt a bird left knowhere south of the river. There gone ind dont think theyll ever come back...im good friends with several biologists for the state and they do a great job but theres just not enough contiguous land to manage for them...plus knobody gives a crap as long as there chickens are growin and their cows are fat. I think theyd close our season too if they thought it would do any good....there are no turkeys so whats the point...kinda lost all hope. Thats why im leavin this sorry place one day...i hate north alabama.

You need to move to “Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful gobblers instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Barbour County” haha

Ive hunted barbour alot...i do like it there. Im partial to the coastal plains and well....anywhere flat...

Our lease in Barbour county was awful this year.

Weather has sucked it up...walked all day in a place thats completely void of birds just in hopes of seeing a track. A place of neglect...but thats changing now....if there was ever a place where a turkey should be...its. Where i was today...i hope they move in and re populate...we will see.

I may end up getting skunked this year should have killed a tleast three shot and missed twice. I have everything go wrong that could go wrong so far this year. I am still trying though maybe I can get on the board before the year ends.

Stay after em! I hunted Friday Saturday Sunday and heard a total of 3 gobblers. Pretty slow

Last week was a little tougher. Managed to get on one that skirted us. He was within 75 yards when I sat down.

Congrats tailwalk! I had one gobble yesterday afternoon and had him at 20 steps through some thick brush: couldn’t tell how good a bird he was. Man I’m hoping to get to hunt some good weather mornings this weekend.

I went yesterday morning. Windy, but I heard 2. One gobbled about 15 times. He stayed in the bottom he was in. I’m going to head back to that spot this morning if I can. Rain moving in today.

I should get to go one more time in Alabama. Hopefully I can grab a upgrade in Nebraska if that don’t work out.

I burned some of my property saturday and couldnt leave the fire gonna give it one last hoorah this weekend tho

Heard 1 burning it up while I was on the river today with my Dad. We fished at millers ferry. I’m headed to the woods tomorrow morning.

Sittin here tryin to roost one but theyve had tight lips all day.

Yep i hunted all weekend long and i heard one gobble late saturday evenin on the limb. Went back the next mornin an decided to post up near where i heard him gobble but i didnt hear a peep. Was like the turkeys were done and had no desire to gobble. I dont know what the deal was but its over...on to my lesser favrit sport deer hunting. Been fun fellers..i shoulda had 3 birds but that miss at the beginning of season hurt me.

Same here. I’m done. I had one at 15 steps and never had a clear shot earlier in the season. Plus had several days they didn’t say a peep. It’s been crazy quiet for April. It’s been fun though. Good to meet y’all through here.
