What’s up fellas! Hoping for a good spring, watched a youth kill a goodun this morning

Been checking cams but not seeing much. Did see some tracts and I know I have some birds on my places. Was gonna get up in the morning and listen but with 20mph winds and not a gob on camera, I'm gonna wait til Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm gonna do some scouting on some new ground in morning before heading to work in the afternoon.

This morning I drove up to the gate at the spot I was going to hunt Thursday and was greeted by a skidder and a full load on a truck. Gonna be in there for 2 weeks thinning some bug timber. I'm hoping they won't be back as far as I want to go by opening day but that was not what I wanted to see this morning.

I killed #3 Sunday and saw another one die. Heard my first decent gobbling turkey north of Montgomery yesterday AM but couldn’t close the deal. Getting after them again this morning, good luck to you guys!

Mine ended up weighed 22# 3 oz, had 15/16” spurs, and was actually a double beard that I didnt notice. 9 3/4” and 4 3/4”.

Attaboy. I had one gobble three times early this morning and I have no idea where he went.

Neighbor killed all my birds at the house I guess didn’t hear a peep. Be back after them Monday.

Hey guys! I'm trying to do my part! Birds just ain't doing theirs! I figured I've hunted 11 days and put almost 40 miles of walking in and nothing to score yet. Congrats to y'all that are getting it done!

If you can get away a morning let me know. I’ve got several public land birds we can chase that will actually talk a little.

Spent all day in TN yesterday. Heard a few gobble sparingly but none in my zip code essentially. I tried to go to two different birds, one by driving a huge loop around and coming in from the other direction (to avoid terrible terrain) and the other by crossing some terrible terrain. Never heard either again when I got in their general area. Of course. Sick of winter....ready for some spring up this way!!!

I screwed the pooch on my lease birds Saturday but besides that it’s been a horrible last few weeks with me only setting down on two gobbling birds.

Well, I finally found and got on a few turkeys this morning fellas. Had a hell of a before work hunt but didn't quite get one killed. Had a ball though! Maybe I can mess around and get one of em killed soon. Hope ya'll are having some luck!

I’m the worst turkey hunter ever, but I’m not done.

I ain’t sat down on a gobbling bird in two weeks. This has been the crappiest season ive had in years.

I got schooled by the same ol hard headed turkey again this morning. I had every intention of running his arse off this morning and going to a different turkey (actually heard 3 I could go to last Friday) but he was the only gobbling show in town this morning so I took another arse whipping. I swear I believe he is retarded or maybe just a pure arsehole. Bout ready for a smooth ambush if I get lucky enough for him to do the same things again.

I hate to ambush one but if he pisses me off bad enough I will kill him one way or another. I may break out the 22mag on the one behind the house if he doesn’t quit gobbling 4-5 times and going silent.

At this point, I'm up for anything that will put one in my vest. God help the next turkey I kill. I might just stomp his warty head into the ground til it disappears.

Good luck weagle. This is the worst year I’ve had since I started turkey hunting.

Same here buddy. All the way around. I ain't quitting though! Heck, I barely feel like I ever got started. Have just never gotten in a groove at all like in years past. I should be able to hunt a bunch this Sunday and Monday. Hoping to get to go those next two weekends at the very least too (no kids' games or track meets), along with trying to plan a trip to the northeast in late May. Still lots of time left fellas...at least in various states. Ya'll stay with em!

Whew!! Got one today after being stung all season. I killed this bird at 830 today. Hang it there guys. I killed one bird last year on 4/29. Nothing like waiting til the last possible moment!

I finally messed around and killed my nemesis this morning. I hate the fact that he wont be over there gobbling in the morning but I have never been so relieved to kill one in all of my life. We couldnt decide if he was an arsehole older bird (never had hens...they must not have liked him) or a young turkey who had been traumatized. Thankfully, it was the former. Pretty good bird.

Anybody else still hunting? At the very least, I will be going to TN a couple more times throughout these next two weekends. I am considering going to PA on Memorial Day weekend also but that isn't remotely a certainty. Story in the beards and spurs forum, but I was tickled to finally kill my number 3 bird because he whipped me all over the place for weeks. Seriously doubt there will be any upgrades as who knows if I will even hear another one, much less kill another one.

I’m done for the year. I hunted more then ever and had my worst season in years. I think I worked 4 or 5 birds all year and one was the same bird.

Killed #4 this morning in TN. He was a lightweight 2 year old though so no help at all to our cause, but it was good to hear one gobble on the limb a little once again though! Still got a few more hunts left in me....just not satisfied with how sucky this spring has been overall. That turkey this morning still had 5 or 6 hens with him. All things considered, it felt and sounded JUST LIKE an April 15ish type hunt in North Alabama. Everything seems to be terribly behind up this way still.

Hell a buddy in Birmingham hasn’t heard but one or two gobbles this year. Tuesday morning he heard two birds and Wednesday he had one gobbling every breath.

Well fellows, I was hoping for a top 5 finish but I guess that ain't gonna happen. Congrats to Jughead for having one helluva year! It was fun checking in with y'all all year! The rest of us have next year to turn things around!!

Fixed it for you pal. Should have been 5 kills in the last 5 trips, but I choked and missed on my b-day. Other than these last 5 hunts, this season has been a damn STRUGGLE! I honestly thought I wasn't gonna kill a single turkey in April which is usually when I get rolling given all of my places are finally open for hunting. It has been a strange, strange spring overall! Regardless, I have enjoyed the heck out of being a part of this team....well other than having another damn no-show teammate. Thinking about suggesting to Wallace that we have a "Not allowed in the contest" list that we keep going forward for fellas who sign up and never check in?
