Checking in! Good luck guys; from what I’ve seen we will need 3 a piece to compete but no matter what let’s have fun!

I’m good with about any name that we come up with.

I'm in. Looking forward to having a good year. I'm hitting one of my spots in the morning for a day break listening session. Been getting a lot of pics of nice birds. I just hope they hang around until the season rolls in. Unfortunately my kids and grandkids are too old for youth days so I'll have to wait till regular opener. Good luck everybody.

Hey guys! Looking forward to getting to know y’all. I live in NW Alabama, Russellville! I’ll travel south early to hunt Butler, Montgomery & Autauga counties then mostly hunt Franklin County after April starts. If you need help speak up, we can make it happen!! You may have seen my video on FB, but it’s too funny not to share!

Love the video!!

Hope to get my daughter one in the morning. He was hammering this morning and I’m getting quite a few pics o him alone throughout the day. Hopefully we can make it happen.

I hunt 3-4 counties and then take a trip to Kansas and Kentucky. Kansas is an archery hunt this year and may be tough but hopefully I can help. I am also glad to help anyone out if needed.

Set up listening this morning on my Lee county place. I've heard 3 gobbling and my buddy on the other end of the property is on 4. Timber cutters are still in here so it's going to be rough going but at least the birds haven't been run out only pushed around. Weather permitting I'll hit my Russell County place in the morning. That's my honey hole. I killed 3 there last year, but the pines have been cut since then so it's going to be difficult down there this year.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Rain set in here before daylight so I didn't get down to my Russell Co. lease this morning to listen for gobbling. Probably best though, gave me one more day to sleep late before the season kicks in.
I like head stompers or limb launchers.

Someone needs to send Head Stompers in quick before someone else does! I’ll do it if there’s no others who are concerned about the name?

Sounds like a good name. Send it in goose11. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my 2nd bird of my life this year! I killed my first ever back in 2016. Hopefully I’ll have better luck than I did last year. Didn’t hear a single gobble all year. Seen 1 hen and that was it in 2017.

I'm about to get a nap and work tonight take a nap and work again tomorrow, but I'll be off Friday. I'll be at my Lee county place trying to get to the birds before the timber cutters get to the creek bottom where they are roosting. I'll be on them all weekend weather permitting. Good luck guys.

Rough morning in my part of Fayette. Heard zero! They were hot last week but nothing today. Couldn’t stay as long as I’d like so I’ll head back tomorrow.

Been having this place to myself but there were 5 others hunting today. Hopefully it will still be a good year and I have some back up places if needed

I'll be on them in the morning. My buddy killed a nice bird on our place this morning. He never gobbled but came on the run to a jake decoy looking for a fight. I know the general area a couple have been roosting so I've got my first set up planned. If it doesn't pan out It'll be run and gun till I get hungry.

Just called up a Jake. No points for him so he got a pass. Heard one gobble a couple of times a while ago might move on him soon if nothing else happens here.

I'm after em again today. Big difference today though. Woods ate spooky quiet. May be a waiting game today. I did pick up another piece of property to hunt yesterday. It's in a really good area. Never set foot on it before so I'll probably go ride it this afternoon.

Awesome job!

I got us another one this morning. Not huge but a 2 year old that will give us another score and he was a fun challenging hunt.

Congrats
I struck out this morning. Started out heading to a spot on my Lee county place but thought I'd hit another area before the loggers cut it. Had one gobbling early but I just couldn't get close to him for all the downed trees and tangled tops. Backed out and by the time I got in his neighborhood he wasnt cooperating. Did some prospect walking but really should have stuck to my original plan. That will be it for me till next weekend. I may go to Russell County next week.

Congrats guys! I had no luck on Friday. I’ll not be able to hunt till next Friday and Saturday due to work. Hopefully I’ll hear one and have a chance at one.

Thanks, the shotgun is a Winchester SXP Longbeard 20 gauge. Just put it together this spring so it was my first bird with it. I've got it's brother in 12 gauge also.

Congrats bamaslayer! I’ve called in and watched 3 die in 3 days hunting with a buddy of mine. Only that one was mine though. We’ve had a great time even though we haven’t heard a lot of gobbling. We’ve killed the 3 that were willing to gobble enough for us to get on. It’s his place and he doesn’t get to go as much so I try to let him shoot as much as possible. We have one morning left but the wind is suppose to be brutal. Hopefully we can get close to one early and maybe I can get another shot. Either way it’s been a great 4 days. I’ll be back on my places next week!

Well we only heard one bird this morning and he only gobbled about 5 times all morning. He had hens and was content just to strut and drum all morning for them.

Didn’t keep him from dying though grin! I pulled the trigger on him at 9. I’ll post pics later; he was a better bird than the other one. Headed back home; been a great trip.

Way to go Randy!
I'm pulling another day, night, day shift this week so I can take off another long weekend. Got word today that the timber cutter on my Lee county place had started down towards where I killed the big un last week. I was hoping to get in there this weekend and see if one had moved in to take his place before they run them out. I'll hit my Russell county place this weekend and see what is going on down there. Good luck to everybody.

I got him posted for our team. Score was 64.
It was a good 4 days. Gobbling was never great but can’t complain with the results. I hope they get a little more fired up on my places over the next week. Good luck to you guys!

I'm at it today. Drove down to my Russell Co place. First time here this year. Heard one early off the property. Nothing since. Might be a slow day.

Congrats guys! Y’all are some killers! I didn’t have any luck again today. I’m going to go in the morning and give it another try. Hoping the good lord will bless me with a bird. I’m going to try my best to get my 2nd bird of my hunting career. Good luck for those who are going in the tomorrow!

I hope y'all are having better luck than me. I hunted Fri Sat and sunday, even went o e evening hunt. Didn't even come close to a gobble. Called in a few hens and heard a few gobbles just nothing on my side of the property line. Hunted my Russell co. place Friday and it's devestated. It got cut starting back in October but I saw some birds during deer season and had a couple of gobblers on camera. I walked about 4 miles and never cut a turkey track. That was my go to spot. I killed 3 birds there last year. I'm hoping next weekend will be better. Good luck guys.

Alroght guys. Im going tomorrow morning and wondering. Should I get in the same blind as the other day where they landed 60 yards away and walked out. Or go sit under the tree the strutted right next to. The tree really cuts down my visiblity. But if they fly down it will be in my lap.

I'd go to the tree, but in not much on sitting in a blind for Turkey hunting.

Hope you get him this morning. I’d go to the tree as well because I’m not much on a blind either but I also don’t have turkeys that roost remotely close to the same spot day in and day out. With all that said, I’m about to sit in a blind for a couple of days. I have a grumpy ol bird that won’t act right but does come to a small field somewhat regular in the mornings. I think if I can take him out it will help my hunting. It will also make me happy haha; I’ve dealt with him for 3 years.

So my alarm didnt go off and I woke up late. Which meant no field hunting. But i went to my land in the timber walked around found scratching and a feather. But heard nothing.

Killed #3 this morning. Actually went to hunt a bird that I have lots of pics of but he doesn’t gobble much. He’s been doing this for the past couple of years in the same place. Got to the club and someone was hunting that area so I had to go to my backup spot. Probably a good thing since I would’ve just been hoping that other bird came through before I had to leave. Found one that was willing to play a little and convinced him to leave his hens and give me a chance.

Congrats Randy! Don’t feel bad Au I’ve been striking out as well. I was close to getting my 2nd gobbler yesterday evening. I know his there now which makes me feel a lot better. I was beginning to wonder if I would even see a gobbler this year. If everything goes good hopefully Saturday I’ll get a chance at him.

Well I don’t get to upgrade with this one because my little man killed him, but it was more fun this way! This was the bird I was going to hunt the other morning but didn’t get to. Been after this bird for quite a while and it was satisfying to watch my son take him.

Congratulations Randy. Good looking bird and kid. He sure looks happy and I know you are.
I got my butt handed to me this morning. Hit my Russell Co place hoping a bird or 2 had moved in since I was there last. Unfortunately not, but I had 3 gobbling close to the line. 2 on the south and 1 on the north. I worked the pair all morning and just couldn't get them to get within 75 or 80 yards of the line before I had to leave to look at a job for a guy. I'll be on them in the morning though and see if I can pull one over. If not I'll wear my sneakers next time. wink

Good luck to you guys this weekend and thanks!! It was a great morning for sure and we were both pumped. I almost got one at 10:30 after his bird for a double but we got a little close. May try him tomorrow. Y’all have a great Easter and God Bless

The butt woopin continued today. Birds in the area are definitely hot. I bet I heard a hundred gobbles this morning but none were on my property. I tried till noon to coax one to me but their just not having it. Hunting clear cut turkeys sucks! I've got a full week ahead of me at work but I'm going to be on their asses again next weekend for sure. It's just a matter of time before I catch up to them.

Didn’t go today but I got whipped good yesterday. I’m sure he would’ve upgraded my first bird but no worries he was taking me to school. He also prob gobbled a couple hundred times and I even saw him a couple of times but he just played games with me. Not sure how I’ll go about hunting him next time but just like we educate them sometimes he will educate me on where he wants to go to die if I don’t blow it. Good luck to you guys if you get to hunt this week; otherwise have a great week and I hope you have a great Easter.

Slightly upgraded my first bird. Wasn’t by much but figured every little bit will help.

Thanks guys. I have been blessed this year for sure. I usually have a pretty good year because I can take time to go but even with that said I don’t remember ever killing 4 this early and also watching 3 more die that I called in. I normally don’t go solo as much this early and let others shoot first. Things have just played out differently this year and I’m thankful for the opportunities. Those years of 1 or 2 here or there will make you appreciate this for sure.

Well some of you have seen but I finished out yesterday in Bama. He prob would’ve upgraded my last bird by a little but my day was crazy and I never got a pic with him. I’ll still be hunting Kansas and Kentucky though and hope to get a couple more.

Good luck to you fellas.

Congrats Randy on limiting out in Bama! Truly awesome job you have done! Good luck hunting in those other states! I’m hoping I’ll get my chance at a gobbler before season is out.

I finally got on the board today! This is my first double beard! I was pretty excited! It was my buddy Jon's first time to double kill gobblers! It was a rainy wet and cold morning, but the turkeys still turkey'd!! I can't figure out the picture posting thing, but here's my best shot...

Congrats guys, hoping to have some luck on Monday. Got a local report of birds strutting in the fields.

You other guys don’t give up. I sure ain’t worried about the contest but would love to see you guys kill some birds. I’m believing for the best!

Dbmv good luck with those clear cut birds too. Been there and done that and it can be tough.

So, I went to a property where I haven't had much luck the last 2 seasons. I know there are birds there so I always try at least once or twice. I set up in a central spot where I could hear good. I could see into one of our food plots as well as the power line. I don't call much, and only yelped softly once early, then purred about 45 minutes later. I expected the turkeys to come from the power line, but after an hour and a half (7:30am) he gobbled to my left across the food plot, about 75 yds. I was looking the other way, so I slowly brought my head around and he's out there strutting for all he's worth. I'min the shade and in good cover, it's a thicket of short pines just tall enough to hide in and not get silhouetted. I slowly scooted around the base of my tree so I was pointed in his direction, he was gobbling every few minutes, about 70 times in all. I had a hen decoy out in the lane that connects the plot to the power line and he could see her. I only purred, and scratched I the pine straw, and he slowly made his way to me. At one point I lost sight of him because of a dip out in the field, and I got anxious, so I lifted up my fan-tail, and he saw it! He came fast and I shot him at 20 steps, coming through the pines instead of walking the lane to the decoy! It happened fast when he thought another gobbler was close! Here's the best part, he has two beards! So I had never shot a gobbler with multiple beards up until this season, now, both birds I've shot this season had them! I gotta do a few things tomorrow, but I'll try for another before work again on Wednesday.

Awesome goose! I’ll be in the woods all day Wednesday. So hopefully I’ll get one, I haven’t been able hunt to hunt much because of work this year. I’m trying my hardest to get one. But I know when it’s time the good lord will bless me with a bird.

I had the honor of calling one in for a friend of mine, Caleb Thompson is a deacon at our church, he's an Army veteran in the war on terror and has been wanting to kill a turkey for years. He finally had time to go and we went to one of my best spots! It took a few hours but we got it done! He came from way off and Caleb shot him at 16 yards. It was a good day!

Congrats guys. I been giving them all I can but I just can't close the deal on another one. I finally got on a bird yesterday but I couldn't out hen his hens and I couldn't make them mad enough to come at me. Had to sit and watch them walk away. Was hoping to go back after them today but this just ain't letting me. I'll be on them again Friday morning. Hopefully the hens will be on the nest by then.

Killed a good one today. First double beard I have ever killed. also first turkey I reaped with a full strut decoy. Belly crawled behind the decoy to this bird who had been standing 200 yards away in a big field for 1.5 hours. cut the distance in half through the woods, then crawled to the field with decoy and gun. He strutted in wiht bright white head to 20 yards and got the boom laiod down. Awesome hunt. Havent posted on score thread yet caus my phojne died and im about to get to bed to do it all again tomorrow. just glad the mojo has worn off. Best thing if my daughter got to watch the whole thing from the blind, she gonna be a turkey killin machine when she's older.

Guys, I have never hunted so hard and had so little to show for it in my life. I hunted at least 3 days a week every week of the season except one. This has just been a horrible season for me. I never dreamed I would have all 3 of my spots clear cut at the same time. I was just starting to get a few birds back on my Russell Co. place but just couldn't catch a break. And to make things even worse I found out today my Kentucky trip this week has gotten cancelled.
Sorry I couldn't help any more than I did, but I hunted hard and enjoyed every mile I walked and every sunrise I watched. I did get lucky and picked up another spot yesterday that actually has trees on it so next year, God willing, will be better.
I hope you guys going out of state to finish the season have good trips and get on some birds.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Hey guys! I ended the season by watching a couple strutters out about 70 yds. It wasn’t the way I thought my season would go, but I know I had a better season than others I’ve had in the past. It wasn’t the best or the worst, it was fun. I was in on killing 6 birds, and pulled the trigger on 2, both of which had double beards! I’d never killed a gobbler with multiple beards till this season! If you get to go out of state to kill a few more good luck!! I hope everyone enjoyed their time in God’s amazing creation!! It was fun being on a team with y’all!
