Here are my results with Hal’s new MOA 2 1/8 oz of tss. I used my Affinity compact with the Undertaker HD .582 ported choke. I was using true #8’s at a 40 yards.

I will say this load is stout and kicked like rented mule!! I’m still sporting a nice bruise from not having my gun properly shouldered. I have a strong suspicion it is going to be real bad in my little Yildz O/U.

I am pleased with the pattern it produced.

Yep, and at 1,163 fps. Who knows how Hal cooked up that recipe, but it sounds painful

That is a mighty fine and very even hunting pattern, it will be a real killer with the 8's. Congrats buddy, I know you gotta be happy with that!

That’s a good looking pattern but you may wanna try a different choke pal. With little 8’s you have way over 600 pellets and with big 8’s you should be approaching 600 pellets in that load. Looks like you may be blowing it out a little and losing some shot somewhere along the way.

Looks good mike, I'm waiting on powder. As bad as normal loads kick out of the yildiz, I'd imagine this one will be a humdinger

That is awesome! Aint no way my wimpy arse could tote that recoil though. That 1 5/8 oz load is about all I care to deal with. I still get tickled thinking about my nephew killing his first turkey with my little Mossberg 500 20 and the first thing that came put of his mouth, before he even celebrated, was “dang that kicked Uncle Chad!” laugh

Heck I can’t afford to shoot that load, especially slinging 2 or 3 shells at one bird like I do lol

Great pattern, but not what I expected out that pay load.

That’s what I expected.

I’m getting 280/120 in my affinity compact with the 1 5/8 load with 8-8.5’s the best I remember

I'll be loading up some big 20xl's tomorrow! Built my shot trap today and can't wait to start patterning later this week.

Brent ol 3toe ran the numbers and came up with this info. My 8’s run around 253 per ounce.

The math would put about 70 pellets outside the 20”. Very nice pattern. And even. That’s what I like. Density but also even numbers in the quadrants. My math has you 54% in the 10”, 33% in the 20 and 13% outside. I don’t think you can do much better. 537 +\- is the pellet count I get at 253 per oz.

Mike, why did you go with 8s? Ive never shot 8s before out of a 20 so I’m just wondering what made you go with them over 9s?

Stony got better numbers than me with 8.5’s. 3toe did the math on my load with the 8’s I shoot and only 13% of the payload is outside the 20. That little gun will kill one way further than one needs to be shot. My gun loves the 8’s and always have. The 8.5’s did not do well through my gun.

Because the turkeys don’t tote those 8’s off. I e had a few birds tote them 9’s if I didn’t get a sold hit. I’ve pulled those shots so was my fault. The 9’s kill plenty good I just like the 8’s for better energy if I pull or miss judge the yardage.

Austin I highly suggest you buy one of these for that Yildz if you plan to shoot that MOA recipe through it. I just ordered me one tonight.

Mike,

Better watch it shooting that load.

That recoil might go through the shoulder, all the way down, and blow the other hip out.

Great pattern, but not sure I like the idea of the recoil with it.

God Bless,
