That's been me a time or 3 several years ago or tomorrow if there's a lot of wind smile

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We fished Jordan one year and put in behind Mitchell dam. It was raining awful and they had every flood gate open. When we launched, the water was rising. When we took out, the water was in the parking lot and the dock was under water. To get my boat on the trailer, I had to aim about 20 yards up current from the trailer and hit it hard. Not sure how I got it on the trailer. It was fun watching people try to trailer that day!

I've launched in a creek before, then it rained. It's challenging when you add current.

sounds just like a day i was there probably 5-6 years ago. The dock at the beer joint was almost under water when we launched

Being a lard-ass didn't help him maneuver the boat either. Hardest boat launch I've ever done was on the Kenai River in July. That current is nuts when you're trying to launch at the Pillars.

Dayum. I didn’t realize them guys was filming!
I believe his mainest problem was the trailer was a hair deep. Boat nowhere to stick like that.
I’ve had my share of trailer loading issues. And I’ve seen a few. The guy trying to load the cabin cruiser was one of best I’ve seen in person. He couldn’t get it to balance out side to side. I figured it was his first or second time out in that boat. His wife looked at him, looked at me and my wife and said in a real country voice, “I don’t thank this is very fun.”

Anthony nailed it. The part to guide the boat onto the bunks was too deep. Look how close trucks rear tires are to waters edge. Each ramp is different, steep ones are painful.

launch at old Lock Six on the Warrior when the river is up and the current is running, aim at the upstream side and hit it just as you get there.

You know its gonna be a long day when you pull up to the ramp and someones backed all the way to their trucks axle with somebody standing waste deep trying to float it on center. No telling how many times ive had to wait on people doing this. And they wont take advise because they already know everything. Funniest times are when they winch it all the way down and pull off and the back of the boat is about 3 feet up in the air off the trailer.

almost as good is to watch the idiots at Howtans Camp, and it is in a slough with no current. Idiot has momma backing the truck/trailer for the first time and YELLING at her. Good times.

I forgot about that one. Its a real gem. The interesting part is the big submerged block of concrete on the upstream side of the ramp. I think I'm going to hit it every time.

I’d rather get my trailer a little too shallow as too deep. If it’s a few inches short once it’s on the trailer, hook strap, back truck down a few inches, 2 turns of the winch and you’re on. I launch by myself 90 percent of the time. I keep my muck boots in the truck. Makes loading, unloading a snap if you have to step out into water a little.

It'd have been about that time frame. We delayed blastoff because of a thunderstorm. It was awful. Shoulda just stayed at home.

Ideally, my boat needs the tops of the trailer fenders out of the water about an inch. Even then the steepness of the ramp makes a difference. One thing to remember on some older boats like mine is ALWAYS have the trolling motor prop facing the boat. Otherwise it's possible to break it on the winch. Replacement props are about $15 wink

In late 70's I was at Rayburn. That was the first year Mercury came out with a V6. A guy had a new Terry with a black max 175 on it. The ramp was steep. He drove it on the trailer and signaled his wife to pull him out. When she did she dropped it about halfway up the ramp. That was when I decided it would be best to hook bow strap before pulling out. Yep, I think he would have killed her if the ramp wasn't crowded.

I hate shallow ramps. Water was up at lock 8 today had to back down until my front tires were touching water to get the boat to float off the trailer

Y'all need to go try the First ramp on pickwick just below the dam . Current is horrible then add wind. Makes for a very long day.

haleyville al,
I don't know what they called it. I believe it is closed now. It was a single ramp and sucked. When they had the turbine going the current would roll rocks on the ramp so you would have to move them before putting in. I was 11 or 12 the last time I put in there. Dad found someone to drive the truck and trailer to McFarland to get us out. He would get the boat on the trailer and the current would push the trailer around and unload the boat.

Worst launch in the south is on the Mississippi River between Buras and Venice. The river currents are STRONG.

Had some fun and some not so fun times loading and unloading a boat when I was younger. You never knew the water level or condition of the ramp in some places we went. I learn why trailers come with winches.

I've been there. I launched at the south side ramp below the Dam on Guntersville 10 or so years ago. They had a few flood gates open and when we came back to load there was a stiff east wind blowing. At one time thatlittle 14 foot aluminum boat I was in, got plum sideways on the trailer.

That's a tough spot when several gates are open. There is usually a wind opposite of the current that doesn't help either. You just have to hit it from downstream and cut the boat onto the trailer at the last minute. That's when you hope the wind's effect on the boat is less than the current's effect.
