I've seen a bunch of Japanese Climbing Fern here in central AL last summer . It covers the ground, but quickly finds trees or bushes or anything and turns upward. It stayed green here on my place in Elmore Co until the really cold weather hit. I spray every sprig I see, but I know I'm not getting it all.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I know exactly what you are talking about. I've never in my life seen this plant until last season. Travis Batey posted up a thread about it back in hunting season, but got no answers as to what it was.

Not sure but I think that is what is known as "thunder wood"....causes a burning/stinging sensation if you get it on you. I could be wrong though. I haven't noticed any sensations or anything, but if you walk through it, It will leave a sticky sappy substance all over the front of your pants.

I've never heard of Thunderwood, a google search reveals Thunderwood is slang for Poison Sumac. The plant in your pic isn't poison sumac. I've seen the plant in your pic a lot , growing on open cedar/hardwood ridges with limestone present. I think it may be a variety of Bullnettle.

It's odd, this last season was the first time I've ever seen this plant in these areas...and it has absolutely infested the areas that it showed up in. This stuff will try it's best to kill you though. It's gets tricky walking up and down steep ridges when you can't see where your foot is landing.

Hate that stuff, can’t see ya feet and add to that dark, foggy and wet. I though I’d broke a leg, cracked ribs and separated a shoulder one morning this past season. It liked to made me just go sit under a bridge crappie fishing and say to hell with the deer for the rest of the vacation time I was burning at the time. Lol

Jbatey’s plant is white flowered leafcup. The plant bward is talking about is stinging nettle. Need to see a pic of the op’s plant to ID it. Thanks Coonhunter, I've seen that stuff often , never could put a for sure name on it. I never heard of white flowered leafcup.

Send a specimen to your county extension agent. He can tell you what it is and how to kill it.

the picture that Jbatey posted is what I have running rampant. Roundup burns it down in a hurry, but apparently Bees and other insects love it. This I have seen.
