Do any of y'all use spider rigs?
I'm thinking about getting into it, but not sure.

Any recs on some dos and don'ts?
What equipment you recommend and all?

I did it yesterday with a friend. He does it a lot. I’m not a fan of trolling but it produces fish. Ain’t no doubt. Can’t help you on equipment. I know he usually trolls with 6-8 rods on the bow and has 8,10,12,and 14 ft rods in order. He has some high dollar aluminum rod holder from online. When he trolls I know the tip of his poles are inches off the water. Have a long net and good bottom machine. And a bunch of different color jigs.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

Hi-Tek rod holders are top quality and made in Eva, AL.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

me and friend started spider rigging couple of years ago, its all we do unless they spawning. we use 12' capps and coleman trolling rods and the "no drill double seat set up, with rod holders" .

My fishing Buddy does it I dont. All I can say is that its a lot of gear to buy if you dont have it. When they are relatively shallow like on flats its the best way to put fish in the boat. If I were gonna do it Id spend the money for good rod holders not the cheap stuff. One day I counted 19 rods we had out at one time. Go with someone who knows what they are doing and can help you get set up.
Now if you want to dabble and not really spend money, just long line troll. Thats what I do until they hit the banks and I can cast a jig.

I prefer long line trolling but I'm going to play around with the spider rigging a good bit this spring

We will burn that bridge when we get there

haleyville al,
I have once. We said what can go wrong. A hour later we had no fish and line on a single reel we had out and roughly 1000 yds of line in the boat. Bit of advice don't turn the boat real fast. It was such a nightmare I haven't tried it again.

oh and it gets real fun when you hit a school of them Freaking white bass and 2-3 start planing sideways through about every rod you got. That makes for about 45 min of shut down time to clean that mess up. A couple good rolling flathead cats on at the same time can make it lots of fun too.

I honestly don't understand the appeal to it, but to each his own.

I've done it once, with a guy I used to fish with, and have no desire to do it again. I'd personally rather use my single rod and actually "fish". I've never had much trouble catching Crappie that way. I don't want to catch them if I need 15 rods in the water to do it.
