I hunt a large ag field and did well last year the first couple of weekends sitting in a blind with my daughter and dad with a couple decoys in front and light calling, killing 2 birds. I only hunted it 2 more times all year. But the last times we hunted the toms did not want to come in. Was this because of the time of year? or how could I change my set up to have better luck toward end of year. and I am hoping yall say to start fanning and crawling at em cause that would be fun as hell.

I love hunting field birds. No need for fanning. Field birds are easy pickings.

What decoys did you use? Time of year could also had something to do with it. Last year I used a redhead jake, and an el cheapo hen. This year I have the same jake. But 2 avian X hens and a primos full fan strutter. Also Im wanting to leave the bilnd out there before and during season instead of setting up each time. That way I can brush it in and let the get use to it.

Well it may all be for nothing! Just talked with landowner and she said her grandson has just become interested in turkey hunting and would like to hunt the field. She's gonna talk to him and hopefully he will call me. I really hope we can work this out cause it is the best place to take my daughter where she can see birds and be comfortable in the blind. Even if they only let me go with her on youth weekend it would be great. She's been talking about it for months now.
