Thinking about getting a boss buck feeder but I've never use that type of feeder before and I'm worried the deer might not eat out of it whats the best way to get them use to it and eating out of it

I got one last year and deer were eating from in in two days. I just put corn and protein pellets in it.

I got the banks 300# from sportsmans guide. Filled it with corn and put corn out right at the base of the post so they had to walk right up to it to get it. Some were eating out of it very quickly, others still wont do anything but look at it.
Apple corn mixed in it first to give it some smell might help to get em started quicker. We have mature bucks using ours now and switched over to 75% protein pellets and 25% corn per fill now.

The Banks feeder is a little less expensive and a lot more sturdy. They take a little more work due to having to dig post hole for the 4x4 that anchors the feeder, but this is also what makes it more sturdy. Hogs or other critters cannot turn the feeder over. As far as the deer eating out of them, it is about the same. I have both types and I have not had a problem with either.

We have 2 1200# and 2 600#. The 1200# will last about 5-6 weeks before you have to refill it. We also have the 12V broadcaster heads for corn in the winter. Make sure you put it in an open area. Bucks in velvet do not like anything walking behind them. We never had any problems getting deer to use them but I'm sure if I opened a bag of corn and set it on the tailgate of my truck a left it overnight in a field they would eat it all before morning.

How often are y'all filling these up? That's my biggest concern.

Depends on how many deer you have. My 300# Boss buck feeders will last 10 to 14 days. Its a little slower during the summer months when its hot. Protein pellets work just fine in ours. We have mature bucks using our feeders regularly. They are durable and well built.

Makes me wonder if these sorts of feeders help spread CWD and other disease since they have to slobber on the feeder.

For you guys with the Banks Feeders:

How are you keeping the coons and such out of them? I saw where some guys were putting a piece of PVC around the post?

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

The PVC around the 4X4 works and then Put a Squirrel baffle On Post too.

I have used PVC ( must be 6 in. or larger ) and galvanized stove pipe which is cheaper. It reduces unwanted critter usage but doesn't stop it completely.

I have a boss buck feeder it took less than a week to get them to eat out of it....started by pouring some corn on the ground first after they ate what was on the ground they figured the rest out....
