I have 2 that sucked pretty bad:

1) I worked at an egg farm for *almost* a whole day. Puked about 3 times & decided it wasn't the place for me.

2) Worked at a sheet rock distributor for a little over a year. We delivered and would stage up to 3 floors. We had some boys delivering that were mules of men... I was not one of them. My skinny rump was sucking wind every day until they finally took mercy on me and put me in the warehouse.

Shingling roofs on new construction when I was probably between 17-21 years old. Most of the roofs were 12-12 or 14-12 pitch everything had to be handnailed on steeper than a 12on12 slope. Try climbing up a ladder and up toe boards with 65lbs on your back in july all day everyday. Think ive got the back of a 60 year old man from it and im still in my 30s.we did a couple 16 on 12 pitch roofs it was like working up a wall on doubled up toeboards. We got paid $20-$35 a square (three bundles of shingles) so wasnt no riding the clock if you didnt nail on you didnt get paid. Sometimes wed spend a day prepping and stocking out yhe roof tgen it would rain the rest of the week so we dint get a check at all but it was good money if you were willing to put in the work i could hand nail around 7-8 squares a day at the time

I've had hard outdoor type jobs, backbreaking jobs, angry boss jobs, but the absolute worst was waiting tables in Montgomery.  You haven't waited tables until you wait tables in Montgomery, Alabama.

Plastipak in Macalla Molding company, makes drink bottles. It was dirty and hot as a snakes belly on asphalt. I had 27 years in molding and after a year still could not run a machine. Nobody would train new people. And Lord forbid you made a mistake write up time. I remember one case, a girl was written up in the break room during shift change. Huge mistake. And another the boss told me to start the machine. I told him I was not ready his answer was yes it is. I prepped it start it. Well it malfunctioned. Guess who got wrote up. Me

Shortly after I found a much better job.

From 1995-1998 I worked at US Steel in Bessemer for a demolition contractor (Brandenburg out of Chicago). Brandenburg tore down parts of the steel mill that was no longer a tax write-off for US Steel. My primary job was determining what utilities were “hot” and which were cold, and that ranged from electrical, gas, water, etc. I also had to tie off any utilities from the parts of the mill that was gonna remain that went into the parts we were going to tear down. It was dangerous work - lots of times I had to work 480 VAC 3-phase hot, wearing high voltage gloves, 50’ up in the ceilings of those old mills where it was 3” deep with carbon dust that conducted electricity thru the air due to the carbon. By the grace of God I survived all that. The worst was one summer day in the boiler house... it was 140° in there and I was demo’ing out some electrical stuff, and I got so hot I turned white as a sheet. Thankfully I got out of there before I had a heat stroke.

I did odd jobs for dads company in high school and college. (Actually run the company now). Anyway he asked me and a buddy if we wanted to make a $100/each to work 2 hours one Sunday morning. Of course we jumped all over it and I didn't ask what TYPE of pump we would be changing the packing on. Anyway Saturday night buddy comes over to the house and we are headed out to the bar. Dad made the comment "that's not a good idea" but being 21 and knowing everything I blew him off. Fast forward to Sunday morning and we leave kind of early and he says we are working on a pump at AMERICAN PROTEIN. Hmm maybe last night wasn't a good idea. We pull up to plant and a bobcat comes out with the bucket full of this sloshing pink crap that was VILE. I made the comment "he's got a bad job". Dad laughed and off we go to the same area where this bobcat is pulling this stuff out. As we are walking through the plant the smell is well you just can't explain it. Dads says "Murray (my buddy, look at that chicken head and Murray proceeds to puke everywhere.

We get to the pump and I ask if the tank is for sure empty. Well guess what, they were wrong. As I removed the last packing ring this awful smelling, looking crap comes running out. Murray pukes again lol and it gets all over us. We finish job and I go find soap and a hose pipe and try and was this crap off of me. We both ended up throwing the clothes in a dumpster and riding home in our boxers while sitting on garbage bags.

The whole time Dads laughing. I Casey that I never puked though

Building 500' long chicken house on red clay pads in August and it being 110° in the shade of the post.
Rolling in human waist tieing new pluming into old under a house.
Staying up 48 hours to get crops in or out ahead of rain.
Hauling square bails for a dollar an hour daylight to dark in 100°.

When Russell Corp was downsizing in the USA , my job got cut and I temporarily took a job stapling the tags into shirts. Standing in one place for eight hours stapling tags into shirts is hell on earth

I worked two summers 1979 @ 1980 picking up eggs in layer houses for $12 a DAY..nasty aint the word for it....plus we worked daylight to dark....eggs were done by around 4 in the afternoon then it was time to clean up and burn the dead chickens we picked up through the day. But it was good money for a school kid at the time.....this was way before all the automation of today laugh

I spent 3 summers in high school stacking square straw bales in a van trailer for 12 hours a day. Would sneeze black chit for 2 weeks after getting done. When I wasnt doing that we were stacking square hay bales on a trailer and delivering those.

It is a tie between making pizza at papa Johns. It wasn’t hard, the job just sucked. And running a shrink wrap and lamination machine in a print shop one summer. It was hoooooootttttt

Those were jobs I was paid for. The worst I have ever had was putting up fence post and miles of barb wire for my grandfather.

All I got to say is there's a reason you don't see many old roofers or old brick/block mason laborers.
