Vocational school teacher once had two students rolling a push mower around trying to roll start it like you do a tractor.

I have to be honest, I didn't know diesel trucks used exhaust fluid.

Worked in textiles for over 35 years. We would send newbies for cloth stretchers or sky hooks.

Two of my favorite ones I've witnessed:

1) New person (with little/no auto knowledge) is hired at the parts store I worked at in college. Asst Manager calls from the back of the store to have them look up a water pump for a 68 VW Bug.

2) In my current job (industrial distribution), warehouse workers would call a new Inside Sales person from the warehouse and tell them to look up a mushroom headed uterine punch.

haleyville al,
One of the contractors we would run into on jobs. He Sent a guy after a sky hook. After a couple of hours the guy showed up with a crane. He couldn't get pissed.

We were cleaning some concrete forms on a job once and I sent a newhire for a bucket of steam. He toted that bucket around for half the morning and everyone he asked just sent him somewhere else. Foreman didnt think it was as funny as we did. We were at the steelmill and later that week a guy in the rolling mill told me he sent him over to catch some steam off the hot steel before the kid figured out he had been had.

We used to get the new joins to go to the admin office to get the DoD form "BA-1100-N" (B A eleven hundred november).

The admin clerks would send them somewhere else.

Eventually they'd show back up with a balloon someone gave them.
