We got in from the long trip to the camp Thursday. I went out on the farm and I found some really fresh hog sign. Looking at the tracks, I kinda figured it was 1 hog doing it. I had lots of things to catch up on Friday and was unable to go check again. Yesterday was a total washout with all the rain. This afternoon the wind switched out of the north and the temps dropped. Stayed cloudy all day. It was just one of those great hog days.
I call my brother and asked if he wanted to go sit and watch for hogs. Of coarse he said yes. Of all the hogs I've killed on the farm he was never there when I would get in em. He's only had 2 opportunities at hogs and he missed both times. The hog was hanging around a diesel fuel tank for one of my irrigation pumps. The hogs broke the fuel line off and every so often I open the valve and put a little diesel in the hole. The hogs got it tore up. We parked on the rd about 100dys from this tank kinda behind some rozzo cane. About 30 mins before dark I catch movement on the protection levee. I see it again and it's a black hog. I tell my brother to get out and get ready. The hog is around 200 yds and he can't get a good rest. I tell him to jump in the back of the truck and lay on the cab and kill that nasty bastage when he gets on the rd. The hog comes out on the rd and is not stopping. I told him to shoot. He sent one and I heard it hit. The hog just turned in a circle squealing and just fell over. This is the first hog he killed on the farm ant the first hog with the new creedmore.
