Good luck to everyone on opening gun day tomorrow. I will be there. I have not had much luck with the bow so far this year.

Went out today and in the first 15 minutes or so after 7 am heard 6 shots that sounded like they were just over the hill from where me and my buddy set up. After that we did not hear anything but tree rats till we bugged out at lunchtime to scout another area for tomorrow morning. We were able to get our tag at the check-in station early which will save us a little driving time too.

Hopefully I can knock down a doe one of those days. If not I plan on hunting a lot during January. but I hope everyone is having a fun season

I’m still here guys, just not having much luck this season. All of my bucks disappeared in late September but they are beginning to show back up now so hopefully when the rut kicks in I’ll be able to put one on the ground.

We tried Oakmulgee this a.m.. It was beautiful out when the snow started around 5 a.m.. We got there just about 6:10. I dove in and found a nice spot on a ridge that could see about 200 yards wide and I was about 3/4's up the ridge just under a bedding area(I thought). Sat down and it was as quiet as could be until around 7:30. From the area I walk in from the weight of the wet snow started to break branches and it sounded like a squatch was moving through tearing things up. Lots of trees fell over from the weight of the snow. My buddy nor I ever heard a shot though. He saw a few does and I had one sneak up on me that I caught out of the corner of my eye. She was about 60 feet away and I stayed motionless. She made her way over towards me and got within 10-15 feet and stopped. After about 5 minutes she came closer and closer. I could have reached out and petted her at one point. Then I swallowed and she took off like a bat outta he!!. My gloves were soaked through and took them off. The funny thing is although my hands were cold they turned pink and warmed up as the snow would land on my hand and melt. Trying to make it down the side of the ridge was a chore as I kept trying to slide and fall with the wet leaves with the snow on top. I got back to the car around 10 o'clock and took my wet stuff off and started back to where my buddy was. There were trees bent over the road blocking my way out! I ended up shaking the trees to get the snow off and driving under them to get out. I was a great morning even though I did not get a shot. He did a great job painting the landscape for us to enjoy. If the roads are passable in the morning we are going to try to get out again!

I finally got us some points this weekend. Knocked down a good 7 point (would’ve been 8 if one tine had been a bit longer) and a big doe.

Nice job coosa. Hope everyone is having a fun season. Im about to head out now to go to my small 30 acre tract of land I have permission to hunt in Lowndes county , would have already been there this morning but stayed up and watched the Tide. Ill pretty much be hunting every Tuesday and Thursday until season is out. I also am taking the 19-22 to hunt at my lease in macon county. I hear that is Prime Time for that area.
