I had a friend that worked with a white guy that said: I dont think there should be a holiday for MLK, my buddy looked at him and said, “If they shot 4 more, we’d get the whole week off”

I’ll say it: the world needs some more Martin Luther King Jrs.

The man spoke for the oppressed. He did not ask for minorities to get special treatment, he only asked for an equal playing field. He made his point without violence (or the threat of violence) and stood his ground on his convictions regardless of the danger to himself. Some of his quotes are still as true today as they were then as well:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Instead of promoting division, he promoted unity. It’s a shame more people didn’t listen then, nor have they taken his words to heart today, as can be seen in the comments above.

I like him but...wasnt he a preacher that was married and slept around with lots of prostitutes? Then he preaches dont judge by color but by actions???
