Guys Ive cut my teeth on recurve bows. My dad gave me my first one at age 13..a Ben Pearson Cougar 40# draw weight. When I was about 18 I moved up to a PSE take down of 55#..

The 55# bow has never seemed to be as smooth or as acurate as my ben pearson..

For the past three years Ive essentially done nothing but duck and dove hunt..trying to get back in the sport and I am shooting HORRIBLE..I was never this bad even the first time I shot the bow frown

Long story short...thinking of getting rid of the recurve and getting a compound since I dont have as much time to practice..any suggestions

You might just be a little rusty. Going to a compound is not going to make you extremely accurate unless you practice.

If you really intend to change over, there are a ton of options! You might want to visit a shop with a range and get the feel of a few before dumping a paycheck on one.

Good luck. BTW - I shoot an 06 Mathews Switchback and love it.

You can shoot all the major bow brands at the birmingham deer show this weekend. They may not have your draw length, but you can shoot them all none the less.

That would be because of the draw weight difference. That may be a reason you're not shooting as accurately now. After 3 years of not excersising those muscles, you'll need something lighter to draw to get back in the swing of things. Heck, the longbow I shoot is only a 45 pounder. It'll kill a deer just fine.

Heck, you saw how bad I missed with a shotgun. We'd all go hungry if I took a bow. laugh

I agree. Try building up your muscles before giving up.
