No archery shop here... One guy has a small shop about 30min away, I just don't like how he sets things up. Next closest 2 places are 50 miles away.
Got new strings for my bows. One place charges $55 for a "super tune". That's them shooting bow. For me to shoot it, add $25, smh. Was told it would take longer lol. I asked how he could shoot faster than me? He said inconsistency. I then asked if he shoots/tunes my bow, how is my bow tuned for me?
I'm getting a spotting scope or a press just not sure which yet.

Gonna give myself the weekend to decide if $400 plus is justifiable.

I'd say that if that's something that you could really get into, or if that's something that you could justify the $400 for then go for it. I have several friends that do it, but they do it mainly because they are perfectionist and want it done they way they want it. Plus, they have plenty of time to fool with it. I don't have the time but I would like to think one day I might could do it. I'm the kinda guy that grew up doing everything myself so it makes sense. I can't tell you how much money I spent on tools to fix something thinking that it was saving me money vs just paying someone else to do it though.

Definitly cheaper to buy the saw first...

I've used my portal Bowmaster https://www.amazon.com/Prototech-Industries-Inc-4439-Bowmaster/dp/B000PA07JY more than my other presses.

I bought this little rig last year. It works well for what I need, string changes , peep sight tying etc. portable as well.
If I was working on bows everyday, I would definitely get a bench mounted press

Just do it. I did. You'll be glad you did. But I was able to find one for $335 on sale 1.5 years ago. Use google and patience if you have it.

I’m in the same boat you are kodiak. But luckily my friend that has one just lets me use his. So for now I’m settling with that. If he didn’t have one I would for sure but one.

I still debating... I know I would use a press a little bit but, if use the spotter 6 or 8 months out of the year. Going to a place tomorrow to change my prodigy string and tune it. Ill make my mind up then I guess.

Fulcrum Archery has them for $355 with free shipping. I doubt anyone's gonna beat them

I've got the LCA EZ-Green bolted to top of a rolling toolbox from Home Depot. Convenient storage for all my tools, spare parts, etc and real easy to tuck out of the way when not tuning. One change I will be making is swapping out the hand crank for the wheel than comes on the higher end LCA presses. Only downside is Shaw's threads never move, so after my initial setup with paper tune and broadhead tune there's not much press work to be done. Damn you Shaw for building nice string sets. grin

I use XXX G-Strings and JBK strings, same thing , no peep rotation. That's one reason I'm doubting a press. I'm not sure how often I'd actually use it. After I give up a few bucks tomorrow and tinker a bit, ill have to decide.
