Mobile Al,
Anyone of you hunt deer with a .264 win Mag??? I have found a really good deal on one in a gun I really like.. The ballistics are comparable to 7mm mag with a lot less recoil.. Any thoughts or experience with this caliber?

Awesome caliber. Ammo isn't easy to get in modern bullet choices but handloading NAB or ttsx you'll love it.

I've shot one a LOT from early 80's till now. It is by far my favorite deer KILLING calibre. I shoot 125gr Nosler Partition handloads, Flat shooting, hard hitting, mild recoil. My wife shoots it a good bit too.

257's 100gr ttsx reloads are screeching fire monsters and kill deer harder than EHD.

My main big gun is a tang safety ruger m77 .264 win mag and it’s one that i’ll never part with. It’s got a big heavy long barrel helps a lot with the recoil you’ll hear a lot about how hot it it is but ain’t much hotter than most win mags.

Ive shot hand loads out of mine mostly but gots some nosler accubonds at cabela’s on sale for $43 a while back

I’ve got a buddy with an old .264 Sako. It shoots like a laser. Ammo is super expensive, though. Easy to reload if you do that. I’d start aquiring some brass and neck size after the first run through your rifle to extend brass life.

I’d love to get a .264. It is on my list.

If there is any chance the gun has a lot of rounds thru it check for throat erosion before you drop the cash. If it good, you'll have a death laser.

The only issue with calibers not common is ammo seems to be not getting any cheaper and is harder to find. Good to have a gun you can pick up ammo at local stores with decent price imo.

handloading is the only way to go with a 264WM. Factory loads are usually 140 or 160. A 100-125 premium bullet makes it a death ray.
