I'm working up one for a new rig. Anyone want to let me in on your favorite ?

Will be shooting deer , so 140 or 150 grain bullets will be what I will shoot.

Varget @45.0 grains
120 grain NBT
Primers-WLRM COAL-2.80"
3,000fps

RL16 @47.0 grains
140 grain AB
Primers-Fed210 COAL-2.80"
2,800fps

Both are out of a 20" barreld Model Seven.

Neither load is maxed out in my rifle, but I'm happy with it.

Thanks for the recipe. I will certainly consider the RL 16 ( I believe I have a jug ).

If you can find it, Big Game powder seems to make a lot of folks happy. Unfortunately, I don't have any.

Big Game and 120 gr NBT is what I use in a Tikka. Great accuracy and performs well on deer.

The 120 is underappreciated in the 7-08. Remington's factory hp pretty good in 20inch barrels.

Only hits count.

Thx for the suggestions. I will be checking out the Barnes 120's. Worked up a load for the 30 '06 a couple years ago with the 130 grain running well over 3,000. It performed really well on deer.

Can't see why it wouldn't do just as well in the 7mm '08.

Son dropped this one in his tracks with the load I listed above. His first racked buck too! Think he is ruined

What did the exit side look like?

Don’t have a good pic of exit.

Worked well enough on that buck... I'll be working up a load with the Barnes 120... Also the Gameking 140's. Thanks for the input.

My 700 mountain rifle loves 44 grains of Big Game pushing a 140 NBT. It pushes them an average of 2750. Don't under estimate the NBT's at those speeds. I have shot a lot of 200 lb. bucks through both shoulders with exit wounds at very close range with that load.

Im using a max load of Varget with the Barnes TTSX 120gr in one 7mm08
And another max load of varget with the 140gr Sierra HPBT gameking..
Both bullets always give me a good exit no matter where I shoot them at. I wish both shot the HPBT gameking 140.. one does and it's everything you want in a 7mm08. And way cheaper compared to premium bullets.

I tried a lot of different loads for the 7mm08. 140 accubonds and Varget was the best I could get. (The only load I ever got that was decent with Varget) Never sent one through the Chrono. Ended up just using Federal Premiums with 140gr TSXs. I got some more work to go with my new A Bolt
