Has any one seen any rut activity around this county or any that border it? I am headed up tomorrow just curious if they have started yet?

Buddy of mine reported seeing some young bucks cruising last week, said he thought they'd be wide open this week or next.

We go up there every year for new years and almost every year we catch it right. Just trying to see if someone up there has seen anything to write home about has far as rut activity goes.

I hunt just south of 82 around Coal Fire Road, they are getting close but not chasing yet. The next 2 weeks should be real good. If I wasn't working I would be in the woods right now.

I hunt just outside of Carrollton and have watched does the last 3 days with no bucks in sight.

I saw an 2.5 year old 8 point LOCKED down on a doe Tuesday while driving through right on the Pickens/Tuscaloosa line.

last weekend we saw 4 does, 2 at once, and 2 others at different times with no bucks around and does looked relazed.

I've been hunting Pickens County all my life January is the month it usually happens. I seen the young bucks on the hoof last week cruising around and my son just texted me a little while ago seen some does but no bucks. Next week should be right and thank the good lord I'm off till the 15 of January.

We have 500 acres of family land on 86 in between Carrolton and pickensville and for the last few years the first week of January have been good to us.

Going by the number of bucks being brought in to the processing plant, now is the time to be in the woods.

Hunted Reform area for years.I killed one big eight chasing on 12/19/2011, but rut activity that early is rare. Usually Christmas week is when they start scraping, then really get after it a week or so later. I've killed another big 8 chasing on 1/31/2005. Again, that late in year is rare. The next three weeks is the prime time.

Just has a buddy get a big 10 in far west Tuscaloosa co, near the pickens line. Was cruising.

Everybody I know is seeing bucks cruising at all hours of the day since Tuesday. There have been several killed. Figures too since I have to work all week.

I hunt in coal fire area as well. We had a kid kill a small buck chasing on Tuesday and another member shot a 8 point but it was by itself. I don't think it will be long at all before the bigger deer start chasing.

My Dad killed one of our hit list 6 points yesterday, not a tooth left in that deer’s mouth. He was starting to stink but tarsals were still fairly clean. I saw two does yesterday, one was taking its time grazing and another was running like a maniac with nothing on her tail. I ran into a guy at the processor that killed an absolute stud, had 13 points and some gnarly bladed tines not rutted up yet though. He confirmed the same thing we were experiencing, bucks still tolerating each other up until last week. I would be out there for the next two weeks.

I just had a small buck come by about ten minutes after a doe. Nose to the ground.

Carrollton area was wide open last week. Tuesday and Wednesday after Christmas our club killed six bucks in two days, all were with doe.

Where exactly are yall at? I had multiple does just north of yall hanging out alone and still had bucks together on camera last week.

Well I killed my biggest buck to date on Saturday evening about five miles from Pickensville. I really nice 10. I saw 6 bucks this weekend all by them selves. I did see what I think was a buck chasing a doe on Sunday evening couldn't really tell all I could tell was it was 2 deer running through the woods. I think its about to bust off up there probably by the end of the week or next week. I will post a pic of him in a little while.

Saw two small bucks chasing friday afternoon. Got all excited for the weekend and haven't seen a deer since Friday evening.

We are 4 miles west of Carrollton. We had small bucks chasing the week before Christmas and it really starting getting good the 26th and 27th. Our rut has been starting on Christmas the last ten years that I have hunted this area.

We hunt about 5 miles east of pickensville we must be close to each other if yall are on 86.

If I did it just happened around me without me seeing anything. I still have a lot of nocturnal bucks on camera, bucks eating together, does with yearlings.

Chasing hard around Christmas in Carrollton. First week of year around Aliceville

Never saw one chasing. I did kill a nice buck that really smelled bout two weeks ago but he wasn't chasing. He was in field eating with does. Buddy of mine killed one last week with no fat on him. Like he had been putting but it was over

Anyone else seen anything else going on in Pickens?

Saw most of the chasing at my place the 3rd week of December. In another week it ought to be firing back up again.

I heard that. Seems like most of what went on around me happened around christmas and new years, although my deer didn't get the memo. I've got some pictures of bucks with necks so big they're about to bust, maybe they're just behind.

Ain't seen much of nothing going on in Millport but some small bucks bumping does,it's usually wide open between Christmas and New year but it wasn't this year, don't know what's going on

Probably already happened then. Should be more activity toward the end of the month

I am pretty sure Pickens and Lamar are usually about the same time. In Lamar it is pretty much over. Will probably see some action when they come around again the end of January.

On our place in south Fayette county it's usually the first and second weeks of Jan. We had a six point chasing and killed an eight point cruising last weekend.

Southwest Fayette County between Dec 23 - Jan 2 was stupid. There were a lot of bucks killed then.

Saw one basket rack from stand and found a very impressive scrape line last Saturday. Got a couple of bucks fighting on cam probably around two weeks ago. Most of my pics are still at night, very few day time pics.

Just watched a buck outside his ears chase a doe around for about 10 min....Ethelsville.

Last weekend in Lamar we saw a couple dozen does moving about but no bucks. 3 days before Christmas a buck was following a doe but not seeming to pay her much attention other than just being in the area.
Anything is possible about this time of year.

This one was killed on our lease this morning. He was 5 minutes behind a doe.
