I recently moved to Northport. I’m looking for a good deer processor. I usually get a lot of burger and meatloaf. I get my sausage done way out of town at Monroe Sausage. But it’s worth it. Do you folks have any ideas on good processors in town? I clean my own deer.

Try 4 Way Deer Processing up 43 in Berry, near the turn off to Fayette. Yes it is a ways up there, however I have been using them for the past 5 years and they do a great job. They vacummn pack and it stays very fresh. They will also hang your deer for the umber of days you ask for and that makes all the difference in the world. May have to give them a try. I Love aging my deer

Taxidermy by Lynn. They do deer and pigs. They do a good job too. They age them in a cooler for a few days before they cut them up.
I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

I use George Hassell in Northport. He does it in a shop behind his house and he's the only one I'll take a deer to anymore. His house is in a subdivision called Lakewood, just south of the 69/Mitt Lary Rd intersection

Hassell Deer Processing 205-361-6174 I really like using him but he doesnt age the deer and doesnt have a walk in cooler (unless he bought one last year) He keeps each deer in a ice chest until he processes it. Last time I went there he had 20 ice chest lined up across his yard. He also is the only processor Ive gone to that turns people away. That's a pain when you havent got the deer out of the woods to 7pm, drive to him and get turned away. Ive started using 4-way up 43 and have been very pleased, 4-way also shrink wraps their meat.

Thank you Gentlemen! I believe I will try Hassell first. That is less than a mile from the house. I usually age my meat in the walk in cooler before I quarter it up and de bone it. My processor in Mississippi that I used for years worked out of coolers. He could very well have 100 coolers stacked up outside. But he turned the meat over quick!
Those tamales sound good too.

4 Way Deer Processing in Berry is now Deer Fever and I just got my first deer processes by them and I am NOT going back. They told me one price and then charged me more. The only fever is the new owners desire to squeeze money out of you. I ain't going back!! Maybe they will learn, I have heard from more than one customer that the prices are too high. It is too bad, I had used 4 Way for years and liked how they processed my deer and reasonable fees.
One of the previous partners still works there, but got screwed in the sale and now just works by the hour for them. Sad, sad, sad. Thanks for the heads up. Ive taken several to 4 way, they've always been great to deal with. Sounds like the new owners wont be around long. There is another processor just down the road from 4-way, have you tried them?

Edmonson's is the people you're talking about just down the road from what use to be 4-way. Great people and I was always pleased with the results. Myself along with my father and brother took every deer that we had processed for the last 12 years either to Edmonsons or to Sipsey Deer processing in Fayette. Edmonsons was a little better price and turn around wise. Chris at sipsey deer would hang it in the freezer for ya for a few weeks and seemed to get a little more creative ( bologna, bacon, salami, etc. ) I would highly recommend either of those 2.
