I am not sure about that Being that He is rated the 6th Best Pro Style QB in the Nation on 24/7 Composites rating scale. The Kid is a pretty darn Good QB and not Just riding the Name of His Great Grandpaws coatails.

I was gonna be pissed if he wasn't offered. We missed the ginger kicker at AU. Can't miss another legacy player.

I wonder if the white boys get a Charger or a Raptor?

central ala,
It really doesn't matter what kind of scholarship, it still counts toward the 85 limit. That is one of the things that hurt Nebraska football. They give one scholarship to each county. Just so happen it seemed to always go to the best football players in that county. Then they used their football scholarships out of state. NCAA changed that to 85 total scholarship players regardless of what kind of scholarship.

Bryant scholarship, tiddlywinks scholarship, or football scholarship, if he is on the team, he counts against the 85 man limit they can have on scholarship of any kind, so it really doesn't make a difference.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

If he's related to Bear Bryant, does he really need a scholarship to play football at Bama? Can't he be a walk-on and not be counted against the 85? I'm pretty sure that's what Luke Del Rio did since his dad is a millionaire NFL coach

Even if my parents were rich, if I was good enough to play for Alabama and get a scholarship to do so, I'd want the scholarship. Total value has to approach $200K I bet.

It actually does matter. He is tying up 2 scholarships. Give him a football scholarship and the Bryant scholarship to a non-football player. Give it to a baseball player (which they done in the past), they need all the help they can get.

Don't remember the whole story but the Bryant scholarship was given to 2 brothers out of Texas that played baseball at Alabama. Seems their dad was on a team that played against Bryant's Alabama team. Dad was paralyzed against Bama. When his kids got old enough they got Bryant Scholarships.

You are correct. I wasn't very clear, I meant it doesn't matter as it relates directly to the football team meaning they can't have more than 85 football players on scholarship no matter what type of scholarship it is.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

About $6500 per semester just to go to class and live at home. Ask me. My oldest just graduated in August. Talk about being butt hurt. I worked OT, a second almost full time job and sold my paid for Tundra to pay tuition and he still owes 16k. It would have to be more if your kid was a walk on athlete.

And Auburn is even higher. Thank goodness we only have one more semester to go, then I get to start on #2. He has backed off on AU since we told him he would have to live with his sister if he went there. Most likely Troy or the local JC for him for a couple of years, which will help us out.

central ala,
College has gotten away from higher education and has become strictly business. Their goal is make as much money as possible. Some of the professors still care about teaching but they are not the ones calling the shots with their eye on $$$. Its a shame but like hunting, religion, and everything else, when big $$$ gets involved the original objective is lost.
