Tuscaloosa has had spiffy looking Maddox as mayor for 10+ years. He’s as blue as a smurf. There’s also billions of government money flowing into both Universities in terms of student loans that’ll never be repaid. That’s what is called a government handout. Universities are on the teat and they’ve got the best milk.

Lee is generally Republican so there must have been a lot of Rs voting for Jones, or just not voting at all.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I saw more democrats at my voting site than I've ever seen before. Doug Jones signs were literally 30 steps from the front door. Yeah, Tuscaloosa is becoming very liberal.

Minorities came out in a huge way. My poll is slap in the middle of the ghetto and you couldn't fit more cars in the parking lot if you tried. At 4pm mind you. And they were all standing outside calling auntee and their friends to come vote before it was too late as well. That's why Jones won.

Lots of Democrats voting in Opelika.
Doug Jones signs on every street corner from my house to Clarke county yesterday. I think there was a lot of money dumped in to this election from outside the state. No way the Jones campaign bought all of the signs I've seen the past couple of weeks.

Huge Northern/out of state influence at major southern universities. They might not be able to vote but have influence over others. I think almost half of the students at Alabama are out of state students.

students would vote where their home town is. where they are registered most likely not in the same county as the university. But there are a lot of young professionals in college towns that tend to lean left socially not economically.

Saw the same thing when I went to vote. Moore ran a non-existent campaign and was really evident in Opelika.

I was in Gadsden last week or two weeks ago, I was shocked to see the number of Jones yard signs that I saw.

I saw vans and bus loads of democrats being driven to the polls yesterday. In Russell County which adjoins Lee County, Our school ratios are about 75% democrats and 25 Republicans, if you know what I mean, and i think the voter turnout reflected those numbers.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Of course not! Where did you get the idea black folks have any rights? Dang, man. C'mon. rolleyes

Students in colleges casting votes usually do so via absentee ballot, and not for the county in which they reside as students only a few months out of the year. Right? They're registered in their home counties, not the college's county, unless they switch that registration.

So to say the students caused Lee/Tuscalooser counties to go Dem is likely inaccurate.
