Both Texas A&M and Arkansas have been very quiet in their coaching searches. It's been whispered (loudly) that Jimbo Fisher is TAMU's man, and no announcement has been made because they still have a game left this weekend.

Could Arkansas be waiting on their coach to play a game this weekend?

Auburn is 4-7 against Alabama during Saban's tenure and Gus is 2-3. That's a little better than one win for every two losses. I'm almost positive that's the best record any team has against Saban the last 11 years and realistically that's probably about as good as any team should expect to do against him. Now, that also is about as good as Alabama can expect to do against Auburn if you concede that they've done it with coaches that aren't top tier talent.

I have hoped Gus would leave or get canned and won't hate to see him go but I'd prefer it happen next year when their might be a better pool of coaches to choose from.

This. It is not the year to be trying to hire a coach. This is certainly not new news so I imagine Arky can wait a few days for an answer.

I don't doubt that Arky would offer the job to him, but no way it happens publicly this week. If it is to happen, they will have a behind the scenes agreement to do it either after the SEC champ game or after the CFBP if AU makes it in. Would be stupid to offer it this week knowing everything Gus has on his plate.

Gus is gonna use this to get $$$ out of AU ,we all know after a big season that a fat contract follows.Which usually bites the school in the arse within a few years.

I imagine Jimmy Sexton has been very busy with legit offers for several of his clients but I bet he's been even more busy spinning bs up to get more money for guys like Gus.

My take on this. Auburn loses to both UGA and AL this year he is fired. The pressure of being fired I think has weighed on him heavily - to the point of leaving for Arky if he only beats UGA or Bama (without his job being on the line).

This was all before Jay Jacobs being forced out. He and Jacobs did not get along (from what I have read). Jacobs being fired might have opened the door for him to stay at Auburn willingly.

Two reasons I think he stays.
1) Arky will always be an 8-win team. At least at AU he should be able to pick up a 10 win season every couple of years.
2) Gus is about to get a contract extension within the next few days/week
