Picked up a pro hunter in .308 mountain rife, (20" bbl)
I have one in 7-08 and it was a little picky with factory loads. I was finally able to stack a group with barnes vortx 120 grain.
Anyone have this rifle and can save me money on experimenting with loads/brands?
I went ahead and bought a box of cheap Hornady American whitetail 150 gr soft points just to get on paper at 100.
Not a fan of ballistic tips.

Hornady part# 8098. The one I have is a heavy 20" barrel so it might be a bit different but I think you'll be pleased. Agree 100%. Have the same rifle as the OP, and mine loves the Hornady Custom 165gr BTSP Interlock rounds.

I just got back from the range and started with Nosler Accubond 150s and Core lokt 150s.
It liked them about the same, I got 1.5 inch groups with both rounds. I could buy three boxes of core lokts for the price of one box of noslers.
I'll try the Hornady 165s soon and report back. I'd like to get the groups down to MOA.

Then you could tailor a load to your specific rifle. If you do find a factory load it really likes ,try to buy some more from the same lot number.

I don't have the time or patience to reload, but I'm going to try the 165s for sure as soon as I can.

Nosler partitions or federal fusions in everything.

My .308 will touch 3 holes off a shaky card table with 165 gr accubonds.

ANY .308 will perform to its' maximum potential with 165's or, even better, 168's.
