Well we're spending thanksgiving morning at an emergency vet in Memphis....Ramsey is normally a high energy dog, scarfs his food like it's his last meal, and is generally an active healthy dog. But since last night he can barely walk (stumbles and falls) extremely lethargic and almost no interest in food. Almost wonder if he got into something but couldn't find anything. Not looking good fellas...

Literally had to carry him out to the truck....couldn't even get up. BUT we get to the vet and he stands up and hops out on his own. Nowhere close to "like normal", but on his own nonetheless. I don't know what to think.

I don't know what to think. THINK: He is getting better. He will make it. And yes, I know (you made) it was sorta a figure of speech. Prayers for him to make full, healthy recovery. Well worth the vet visit if he is ok. Keep us updated. God Bless, David B.

Gomer, I'm almost in the same situation and hope your dog overcomes his ailment. My dachshund wouldn't get up, wouldn't eat or drink day before yesterday. Yesterday I got him to get up but he'd lay back down. He's real weak in his back legs for some reason. I moved his water bowl next to his bed and he drank real good. Fed him a weiner and he seemed to perk up. Later I picked him up and took him outside for bathroom break. He immediately took advantage of that and I'm about to take him out again.
I had planned to do some deer hunting over the weekend but looks like I'll be trying to nurse him back to health.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

UPDATE:
Just heard from doc....blood work all came back pretty much normal. "Nothing really concerning" per the vet. Kidney and liver function seems to he normal. Starting him on IV fluids to deal with dehydration.
One area of concern is that he has slowly been losing weight for a few months, down from 70ish to 57 this morning. Vet still thinks there is an underlying cause for the weight issue but doesn't think that's what caused the rapid decline yesterday...
Hopefully the fluids will perk him up, but will still need additional testing to figure out why he can't maintain/gain weight.

That seems to be a significant weight loss, Did the vet offer any ideas on what the underlying causes might be? That’s a tough feeling when your best friend gets sick. Good luck....

My Boykin Spaniel bottomed out like that a couple years ago when she was 10. She went down fast. No energy. No appetite. Barely made it up the stairs each day. Vet determined it was thyroid issue. Meds fixed it almost overnight. She acts like a young dog now.

Home and doing significantly better. Back to himself for the most part. the weakness and stumbling was due to severe dehydration from the vomiting but that's all under control.still have to get with our family vet to figure out what's up with the weight loss, but at least for now he's doing better. He is wearing a cone to keep him from messing with a hot spot on his back that he wouldnt leave alone. Possibility that the hot spot had started getting infected partially leading to the other stuff. Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes.

Hope he gets better soon. My two dogs did that last year after getting into the trash. Got to the vet and the jumped out like nothing was wrong. The vet pumped their stomachs and sent them home. I've also been told that kind of weight loss is attributed to cancer Yep, they mentioned cancer being a possibility along with a couple of other things....we'll have to get that investigates when we get home.
