What's everyone's thoughts about this caliber rifle for deer hunting? I have a single shot bull barrel that I am thinking about using this year, never used one for hunting.

Don't use ballistic tips in it. Just kidding, I love my 25.06.

25-06 is a damn fine deer caliber. My brother killed a truckload of deer with one. Light recoil, hard hitting.

I prolly killed a hundred deer with a Rem 700 25/06. I shot 100gr Hornady SPs at 3400. It hit like a hand grenade at close range. Prolly the finest greenfield gun I've ever owned.
I did not like the way it reacted on big bones and it just would not shoot ANY bonded bullets. I would of preferred the 100gr Nosler Partition for all round hunting.
Light recoil and accurate.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Based on the 30.06 necked down to a 6.5 mm ,,the .25 will do the job on deer and has killed many an elk...but more suitable for medium sized game like whitetail ..
Ballistics ,,fast and flat shooting even with different weight bullets,,
it's recommended that a person get the rifle of their choice with a barrel longer than 22 inches for velocity and also muzzle blast considerations.
115 grain Winchester Ballistic Silvertip deals a heavy blow out to around 200 yards.

I've got one that I hunt with occasionally and absolutely love it.

P.O.Ackley&Neidner get the baby '06 invention credit. Bf1966 good as the .25 is it ain't the light seductive .243. The only knock is it is bonded bullet picky.
Only hits count.

I've got an abolt in 25-06 and it's a tack driving deer killing mosheen. I got in a tight and sold one of these, original Stainless Stalker, and regret it.

I love mine. I've never had an issue buying ammo for it.
