Rarely in Ensley all those years did I wonder if they had a gun, I assumed they did and looked around to see where he tossed or stashed it if he didn't.

Glad they gottem, I've met few game wardens that I didn't like. Always amazed me how different they were from State Troopers. Never met but one of those that wasnt a useless tool

I's just funning ya. I've always thought knowing the deck was stacked against them is what kept the vast majority of GW's in touch with reality. Lotta respect for a LEO that has to assume he's in the literal crosshairs every day. I dont think most folks that GW's interact with have bad intentions, but the ones who do dang sure can have the upper hand.

It’s always been my personal experience that the GWs are generally fine fellas if you have the proper license, don’t hunt over bait, don’t shoot to early or too late, don’t hunt without the landowners permission, don’t hunt out of season, don’t hunt with wrong weapon, don’t exceed your the limit, don’t block the entry points on the WMA, don’t bypass locked WMA gates, have a pencil and a harvest record and are generally polite. The mileage of others may be effected by their attitude and/or actions.

Cathead, I've known, and worked with, some GWs that are dicks no matter the attitude of the hunter. Same for hunters and fishermen.

David, I've only worked two individual poachers over the years that I thought might snipe my azz if the right situation arose. One of them really made me be more careful in my approachs. I managed to get lucky and bust both of them without incident, unless ya consider a shotgun pointed at them an "incident"!! shocked grin grin

My only Technical interaction with a GW was last spring. We have 3 cabins on our property. A friend was coming down to help work and called and said There's a Warden here and he wants to talk to you. I went to to our viewing field, It's a field we plant around our cabins. GW and my buddy were standing there talking. GW looks at me and asked if the feeder had feed it in. I laughed and said that's what they are for. (Now he has stopped by a few times just to say hello, hence the laughing,) His demeanor changed very quick. He asked how many wed had out. I told him. He told me real quick that we cannot be turkey hunting with the feeders out and that he had gotten reports of us doing that. I laughed again and told him we didn't turkey hunt on this property. He had the look that I was lying to him. I asked if he wanted to ride around and look at the habitat. With a puzzled look I explained that we have mostly 12-14 year old pines, there is not roosting, there is no brooding, and it really to thick for turkeys and we simply don't have any. He looked around just at where we were standing and actually said, "You're right." I told him when we thinned the trees that he was free to come back and check but until then we weren't waisting our time turkey hunting. We talked for a few more minutes and he walked off. My buddy did ask him where his truck was and he wouldn't tell him. We would have taken him to his truck. It was a good conversation after the original few remarks. I think he thought I was trying to be a jerk, I thought it was just a friendly stop to tell us hello again. I did ask who had reported us. He wouldn't tell me. I know it's not the neighbor's-we don't really have any close and they all know us. I have deciphered who I think it was- but I guess I'll never really know but it was someone that obviously doesn't know our property or from the feed store. We feed protein, not corn.

Get a screenshot of his comment and forward it to the DA. I'm sure the "law" would like to know his stance on his upcoming punishment.

I sure wish we had more here at Fort Bragg. The one we have does good with what he can but one just isn’t enough.
