I am finally flipping and pitching left handed. I like it a lot. The only reel that I've found that I like a lot is the Abu Garcia Silver Max. It's the only one (that I know of) that has the spool engage button on the reel. This allows me to use one hand the whole time. I can make more pitches this way. Is there another reel out there setup like this? Perhaps a little higher quality (lighter, lower profile). Shimano made one similar in the Castaic, but it was heavy and large profiled.

Never got into that. I have always flipped with my left hand. My fingers are long enough to engage the reel with my middle finger without having to swap. Figured out how to do it when I was young. Can take up slack the same way.

I cannot wipe my arse or ........ with my left hand. I had a Pinnacle reel years ago that had a winder built into the reel on the left side. You could thumb it and take up the slack. I liked it for a while but like all other Walmart chit it messed up.

I use Shimano Castaics, they take care of that. If you are making too many flips or you aren't making enough flips to make you happy. I suggest you may not be either working your lure slow enough or far enough. More often the bites don't come on initial descent.
Watch a video of Hackney flipping, there is no machine gun rapid fire from him, and he is one of the best.
That Garcia reel weighs 7.3 My Castaic weighs 7.8. It did cost three times what that thing did. I doubt it is anywhere as smooth.
