Joey is a fine person but his coaching tenure time at USA was and is over.

I don't know him, but he did an excellent job building the program. Now it's time for some new blood.

Joey is good people. He will land on his feet. I'm sure his voicemail is full with high school coaching offers.

USA just lost the best coach they probably will have for a long time. The program has very little backing from the community or student body. They will never be able to attract a proven coach so they will just have to take their chances on whoever is desperate enough to be a head coach to actually accept the offer.

I'm an alumni and I'd go to a lot more games if they didn't play in the hood.

When was the last time you went to Ladd-Peebles?

Myself not since high school I have season tickets to Alabama so that is where I spend my Saturdays ,but my daughter that is actually an Alumni of Bama and not USA goes to almost every home game with her husband and goes to at least one away game. I also work with a guy who is also not an alumni that has had season tickets since the first season and goes with his wife to all the home games. The stadium doesn't seem to stop them and they are not even alumni

Parked in some yards and walked a block or two when they played ULL. No issues at Ladd. Car had all 4 tires when I returned as well.
Nothing but respect for Coach Jones. I have never been able to understand the team though.
Last year, open the season with a win over Mississippi State and then lose over half of their conf games. This year, start sluggish, get it together and beat Both the Fighting Skinny's and Lil Gus's and things look better.

Lose 59-0 to a Winless Ga. southern team and bad things happen.

Yeah that loss is a hard one to get over.

I dunno about his coaching but I vaguely remember being a Small Boy and he was one of Tide�s most exciting players.
If memory serves it was about that era when Steadman Shealy, Major Ogilvie and that bunch played.

Jones was a little after them. He played in the early 80s. Then played for the stallions.

I wish he had never left mountain Brook. He had them rolling when he was the head coach.

Didn't he play for Murphy High School under Coach Shaw. He played at Bama in the early/mid 80's as I recall. A good guy for sure. He will be missed.

Yes, he played at Murphy in the late 70s. Was a few years ahead of me. He was one of the fastest guys I have ever seen personally.

Honestly, South needs to decide if they want a football team or not. If they do, then they need to find a way to energize the fan base and a good start would be building a stadium on campus. South has a beautiful campus that can compare to both Tuscaloosa and Auburn but the atmosphere of a game at Ladd-Peebles does not compare to Bryant�Denny or Jordan�Hare. Part of that is stadium parking at Ladd-Peebles is limited which limits tailgating, it's dated, it was built in 1948, and the location.
