Me and the dog put in at the dam Saturday AM. Fished from about 6:30 to 1:00. The wind was howling out of the south. I fished a lot of main river windy banks expecting the spots to be there, but I didn't get a bite. Threw a spinnerbait and swimbait a good bit.
Got mad and went and did what I always do: swim a jig and flip. Found a couple of areas on the lower end that has good grass and caught some. The flipping fish were a little bigger than the swimjig fish, but nothing spectacular. Water temps ranged from 59-62.
Had I known the fish were gonna still be in the grass, I'd have put in up river and fished where all the grass is! Seemed to be a tournament going on. Not a ton of boats, but they were out there.

You put up with more wind than I was willing to, but of course, I have a light weight tin boat, not a glass boat.

I was too. I've found a couple of areas of deeper grass on the lower end that seem to hold fish. I need to get some offshore stuff going on this lake. There's plenty of it just can't find any fish on it.

Haven't been on Neely nor talked to anyone who has in at least a month.

Fished Neely today from about 9:00 till 2:00, from the dam to Beaver Creek. The majority of the shad are in the mouths of creeks, some are scattered DEEP on structure on the main river though. Fished all sorts of stuff, but ONLY caught fish shallow on docks. All largemouths.

I was there today too. Put in at the new Canoe launch. Ran around Canoe looking for some good grass (there isn’t any). Ended up catching 15” spots on the rip rap causeway across from Canoe on a shad rap. I didn’t fish any docks. I’m not real good at that anyway.

There’s an awesome bluff wall that runs along the down stream side starting at the mouth and going all the way to the bridge. Jigs, jerks, and shakey
